Image via Wikipedia Spain ’s largest homosexual organization, the Spanish Confederation of Lesbians, Gays , Bisexuals , and Transgender People (COLEGAS), has issued a statement condemning “kiss-ins” and other forms of protest carried out by homosexuals against the pope and Catholics at the country’s recently-concluded World Youth Day. The organization has issued a communiqué not only denouncing the protests, but has called for the “immediate dismissal” of the government’s delegate to Madrid , Dolores Carrión, for allowing the vulgar protests to take place. The organization noted its differences with the Catholic Church on sexual morals and condoms, but added, “we cannot remain in silence in the face of the violent events against some pilgrims.” “Whether or not we accept their message, they have come in peace and the public celebration of their faith,” added COLEGAS. Image via Wikipedia Anyone opposed to the acceptance of homosexual behavior as a healthy, normal, moral equivalent to heterosexuality is often accused of homophobia – an irrational fear of those engaged in homosexual behavior.   This same label is applied to any church that teaches biblical morality on the issue.  Recently, Bill Hybels , Pastor of Willow Creek Community Church in Chicago , had to  defend  his church’s loving and biblical morality teachings against an attack from a homosexual activist who persuaded the head of Starbucks to breach his contract to speak at the church’s leadership summit.  Some churches, like Mt. Jerry Buell’s re-instatement was announced yesterday in  a press release issued by Liberty Counsel, the non-profit organization that represented him when the Lake County School Board launched an investigation after receiving a complaint about his post. Commenting on New York’s legalization of same-sex marriage, Buell had written: “I’m watching the news, eating dinner, when the story about New York okaying same sex unions came on and I almost threw up.” He went on to post: “And now they show two guys kissing after their announcement. If they want to call it a union, go ahead. But don’t insult a man and woman’s marriage by throwing it in the same cesspool as same-sex whatever! God will not be mocked. A federal judge in Boston is on the cusp of deciding whether or not taxpayers will be forced to fund sex-change operations for convicted criminals. In 1990, the plaintiff in the case, Robert Kosilek , was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his wife. Three years into his sentence Kosilek changed his name and appearance and now lives as “Michelle” in an all-male prison in Norfolk, Massachusetts . Robert Kosilek during his trial in the 1990s. Kosilek sued the Massachusetts Department of Correction (DOC) 10 years into his sentence for not adequately treating his gender identity disorder ( GID ). In that case U.S. District Judge Mark Wolf ruled that Kosilek could receive hormonal treatment for his disorder, but he did not permit Kosilek to undergo a surgery that would biologically alter his body to make it look more like a woman’s body. Whereas Doctor Who is, apart from the intensity of its stories, safe for the whole family, producers said that Torchwood would be “dark, clever, wild, [and] sexy.” “Doctor Who for adults” is what they called it. As a colleague wrote at the time, a better word to describe the show is “nihilistic” — it’s a judgment that’s reinforced by the show’s newest character. While Torchwood is certainly dark, it’s rarely, if ever, been all that “clever,” especially when measured against the standard set by Doctor Who and other science fiction classics. Teaching the meaning of sexual feelings, desires and behaviors tends to be a free for all. It’s much like that game adolescent boys enjoy playing – we all know what it is called – that basically involves a mob trying to tackle the boy with the ball.  He may whirl it in the air before being tackled, or he may zigzag and try to fight his way through the crowd. That is really the extent of the rules: run with the ball as long as possible without being tackled. This chaotic game is exhilarating for boys, who earn bragging rights as they juke the other players or possess the ball the longest. Unfortunately, such a maelstrom is alarming and harmful when society acts like this about the meaning of human sexuality. Here’s what I mean.
