As acceptance of homosexuality grows in U.S., slim plurality still opposes gay ‘marriage’

Image
Image via Wikipedia A new poll published by the Pew Research Center indicates that “homosexuality” is becoming increasingly acceptable among Americans , although a very slim plurality still opposes the label “marriage” for sexual unions between people of the same gender. The poll also indicates that more Americans regard homosexual parenting as a negative, rather than positive, trend. According to the poll, 58% of Americans say that “homosexuality” should be accepted, rather than discouraged, by society—without specifying if the term includes homosexual behavior.  However, 46% oppose homosexual “marriage” while only 45% support it. Thirty-five percent believe that more homosexual parents are a “bad thing for society” while only 14 percent believe it is a “good thing for society.” A near-majority, 48%, believes it “does not make much difference.” The poll did not ask Americans if they approve of homosexual acts. However, a 2010 Gallup Poll found that a majority, 52%, regard such

Moscow say No to immoral gay parades

Image
Image via Wikipedia The City of Moscow has announced its intention to defy the European Court of Human Rights and continue its prohibition on “gay pride” parades, citing the “moral damage” that may be inflicted on the young. According to homosexual activist Nikolai Alekseev , the government of Moscow is concerned about “the large number of letters received in protest against the Pride events and Russia ’s international obligation to protect the rights of children because Gay Pride ‘may impact psychological health and inflict moral damage on children and teenagers who were to become unwilling witnesses of the event.’” Homosexual “pride” parades, which are now held annually in many cities worldwide, are frequently scenes of drunkenness and drug abuse, public nudity, and simulated and even real sex acts. Public authorities routinely fail to act against such behavior during the parades, applying an exception for the homosexual community. The government of Moscow has been prohibiti

Concerned Burnaby parents decry ‘deliberate descrimination’ in debate over ‘homophobia’ policy

Image via Wikipedia BURNABY, British Columbia . In a strongly-worded news release issued today, Burnaby public school parents and students who have voiced concerns with the board’s controversial “homophobia” policy demanded that the board and trustees cease their own “deliberate discrimination” against concerned parties.  They say that they have learned that the original advisory committee on the policy was composed “exclusively” of gay activists and those sympathetic to their cause, and are demanding transparency about any intended changes to the school curriculum . The Parents’ Voice , a parent-initiated group to connect and inform concerned students and parents, announced a rally and press conference tonight that will outline the “growing concerns” about  draft policy 5.45 . The parents  believe  the controversial policy, which includes reference to embedding gay-related issues into teacher training and student curriculum, will promote homosexuality to their children and discri

Minnesota true marriage amendment moves forward

Image
Image via Wikipedia A constitutional amendment that would enshrine the definition of marriage as the union of a man and a woman in Minnesota is one step closer to getting on the ballot. The House Rules Committee narrowly approved the measure Wednesday in a 13 – 12 vote.  The vote took place along party lines, with Republicans in favor, and Democrats against. However, one Republican, Rep. Tim Kelly (R-Red Wing), joined Democrats to oppose the amendment. Although same-sex “marriage” is already illegal under Minnesota statutes, proponents of the constitutional amendment believe that it is necessary to prevent either the judiciary or the legislature from changing the definition of marriage. Minnesota Public Radio   reports  that Rep. Steve Gottwalt (R-St. Cloud), the amendment’s House sponsor, told the committee that the amendment was not about taking away rights, but about anchoring more firmly existing law defining marriage. “This is current state law. The desire is simply to

UN bureaucrats push homosexual rights against general assembly wishes

Image
Image via Wikipedia The UN bureaucracy is increasing its efforts to decriminalize homosexual behavior and normalize its acceptance among member states, without governmental consent or consensus. “The principle that no one should suffer discrimination on the basis of their sexuality or gender identity is already fully integrated into our current international human rights standards,” claimed UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navanethem Pillay in a recently released video message on homophobia.  “Under international law, States have an obligation to decriminalize homosexuality and to protect individuals from discrimination on the basis of their sexual orientation,” she stated. This message is false, according to a growing body of international legal experts and UN Member States .  The international community continues to vigorously debate the principle of non-discrimination based on sexual orientation, and has been doing so for over five years.   As recently as this past Marc

Rhode Island House panel approves civil union legislation

Image
Image via Wikipedia A political compromise on marriage legislation has made temporary political bedfellows of two intractable foes in Rhode Island : pro-family advocates and gay activists. Both the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) and Marriage Equality Rhode Island (MERI) have come out in opposition to a civil unions bill that will give homosexual couples all the rights and benefits of marriage, except the name – albeit for very different reasons. The House Judiciary Committee voted has 9-3 to approve the civil unions legislation for a full vote on the House floor. The vote should take place Thursday. Rep. Edith Ajello (D-Providence) described the bill as “better than nothing,” according to the Boston Globe . However, MERI refuses to support the bill, arguing that civil unions legislation would mean second class status for homosexual couples. NOM’s Rhode Island chapter has also denounced the measure, but because it paves the way for the courts to redefine marriage aw

Gay columnist: let’s face it, we want to indoctrinate children

Image
Image via Wikipedia As the same-sex “marriage” battle heats up again in New York, one writer at a prominent gay news source is questioning why his lobby refuses to admit that the gay agenda involves “ indoctrinating ” schoolchildren to accept homosexuality . Queerty contributor Daniel Villarreal   criticized  (WARNING site contains inappropriate images) the homosexual movement’s knee-jerk reaction against accusations of meddling in public schools.  Villarreal pointed to a recent National Organization for Marriage (NOM) ad launched in New York that points out how homosexual indoctrination has been introduced in Massachusetts and California schools. Two of the books designed to teach children about homosexuality in a positive light. While gay activists usually deny that they want to indoctrinate children, said  Villarreal, “let’s face it—that’s a lie.” “We want educators to teach future generations of children to accept queer sexuality. In fact, our very future depends on it,”
