U of North Carolina student lied about anti-gay assault

Image
Image via Wikipedia A University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (UNCCH) student with a vicious burn wound lied when he reported the injury as an anti-gay attack, school officials have said. Quinn Matney had filed a report with UNC police claiming that he was attacked on campus April 4 by an unidentified male who branded him with an unknown object. Images show a severe burn that went through the muscle layer to the tendons of his wrist. “He said, here’s a taste of hell, you [expletive] fag,” Matney told NBC17. “I tried to get away, he wouldn’t let go. He didn’t actually let go til I punched him full in the face.” Matney said the attack had left him with fourth-degree burns and nerve injury. Terri Phoenix, director of the school’s LGBTQ ( Lesbian , Gay, Bisexual , Transgender , Queer ) Center at the Division of Student Affairs, said the attack was typical of anti-gay activity. “It is often the case that it is a random type thing like that,” said the woman. But a day after media co

Delaware poised to pass gay civil unions

Image
Image via Wikipedia Lawmakers in Delaware are poised to pass legislation that would give homosexual couples a marriage -like legal status that has everything but the name “marriage” attached to it. On Wednesday the House Administration Committee approved SB 30, the homosexual civil unions bill, in a 4 – 1 vote. The House is expected to take up the legislation Thursday evening. The Senate already approved the bill last week in a 13-6 vote, and Democrat Gov. Jack Markell has signaled that he will sign the measure into law if it passes the full House. SB 30 is sponsored by state Sen. David Sokola (D-Newark North). House lawmakers will also discuss a variety of amendments when they take up the legislation, including an amendment that would allow unmarried heterosexuals to apply for civil union status, and another that would stress that a civil union is not the legal equivalent of a marriage.  House Minority Leader Rep. Greg Lavelle (R-Sharpley) says he believes the bill is a pr

Metropolitan Community Church is a false church

Image
Image via Wikipedia The Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (MCC) grew out of the experience of its founder, Troy D. Perry (b. 1940), as a homosexual man in the Protestant church . Licensed as a Baptist preacher, Perry was drawn to Pentecostalism and became an evangelist for the Church of God (Cleveland, Tennessee) . He later married, but an early homosexual encounter led to his dismissal from the church. He became a member of the Church of God of Prophecy , and worked as a pastor in Southern California. Over the next few years, he came to accept his homosexuality, ended his  marriage , and left the Church of God of Prophecy. In 1968, following a period of reflection on his call to the ministry and his sexual orientation, he began a church serving the homosexual community in Los Angeles, the Metropolitan Community Church, the first congregation of what would soon be a new Denomination. The movement would enjoy great success as the  gay  movement developed throug

Homosexuality is individual preferences above all morals

Image
Image via Wikipedia As a political issue, the debates over homosexual rights represent a serious conceptual and moral issue.  By making sexual identity a public matter, the  gay /lesbian/ bisexual/transgender movement fulfills  Hannah Arendt 's prophesy (in her book,  The Human Condition ) that traditionally private matters will become socialized in modernity.  On a deeper level, the prohomosexual lobby, which seeks equal legal rights to nonheterosexual marriage s and an end to all  discrimination  on sexual orientation and activities grounds, reflects  James Davison Hunter 's " progressive " mindset (in his book  Culture Wars ), which places personal individual preference above all objective and traditional moral standards and sees ethics as historically and personally relative.  This is contrasted, by Hunter, with the more  conservative  "orthodox" perspective that rejects homosexuality on traditional moral, religious, and  natural-law  grounds. Ricky Martin asked not to promote homosexuality

Image
Image via Wikipedia A Catholic cardinal archbishop is calling on Ricky Martin to stop promoting the homosexual lifestyle as the singer performs his “Music Soul Sex” (Musica Alma Sexo or “MAS”) tour in various cities in the USA and Latin America . During an interview with the Spanish publication Primera Hora , Cardinal Luis Aponte Martinez , the Archbishop of San Juan , Puerto Rico , asked Martin to promote values that are shared by all, and noted that “fomenting homosexuality or sexual promiscuity among our young people is certainly immoral, regardless of where it comes from.” Martin, who took on a homosexual identity recently after years of identifying as a heterosexual, has announced that his new musical tour will include “sex games,” which he said “is part of my new way of life.” “I personally admire Ricky for the great artistic gifts which the Lord has given him, but I ask that, for the love of his children, for whom I imagine he wishes the best, to try to give an example to

Bishop Thomas Tobin: Civil unions ‘just another name for what would be same-sex marriage’

Image
Image via Wikipedia Civil unions, said Bishop Tobin in a recent interview, are “just another name for what would be same-sex marriage.” “We’ve found invariably whenever civil unions are introduced in a state that is quickly followed by full-fledged gay marriage ,” he  told GoLocalProv in the exclusive interview. Legalizing homosexual “marriage,” the outspoken Providence bishop said, “is an ill-advised attempt to redefine the very basic parameters of marriage” as “one man and one woman … as they’ve existed from the very beginning of mankind.”  True marriage, he said, is “designed to create new life and to encourage the love of the spouses.” Bishop Tobin has been quick to oppose the efforts of legislators in Rhode Island who try to push a homosexual “marriage” agenda.  In January, he  blasted  Governor Lincoln Chafee for his support for gay “marriage.”  Tobin said he had personally contacted ten to twelve lawmakers to express concern and to challenge them to uphold true marriage

Foolish Catholic Priest supports Gays

Image
Image via Wikipedia Rev. Bryan Massingale, a priest with the archdiocese of Milwaukee and an associate professor of moral theology at Catholic, Jesuit -run Marquette University , and Sr. Simone Campbell, executive director of NETWORK, a Catholic social justice lobby, both spoke at a recent event for a group that advocates “full equality” for homosexuals . At the event the pair were confronted by a reporter with CNS News, who asked the priest whether he agrees with the Catholic Church ’s teaching on homosexuality – a question that the priest demurred from answering. The March 30 event on Capitol Hill was hosted by a group called “Equally Blessed” which describes itself as “a coalition of faithful Catholics who support full equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender ( LGBT ) people both in the church and in civil society,” reports  CNS News . The group was focusing on the results of a recent poll that found an increase in support by Catholics for homosexuality. Following his
