Scotland Government: the new bigot bullies

Image
A new billboard campaign in Scotland is calling out “homophobes” and “transphobes,” focusing in particular on religious “bigots.” In reality, it is the billboard campaign that is fear-based and bigoted. One billboard reads : “Dear bigots, the division seems to be what you believe in. We don’t want your religious hate on our buses, on our streets, and in our communities. We don’t want you spreading your intolerance. Or making people’s lives a misery because of their religious dress. You may not have faith in respect and love, but we do. That’s why if we see or hear your hate, we’re reporting you. End of sermon. Yours, Scotland.” Another reads : “Dear transphobes, do you think it’s right to harass people in the street? Right to push transgender people around in clubs? Right to humiliate, intimidate and threaten them online? Well, we don’t. That’s why if we see you doing harm, we’re reporting you. We believe people should be allowed to be themselves. Except if they’re spreading hate. You

Interview with Nancy Pearcey: Many Battles Ahead Over LGBT Issues

Image
Author Nancy Pearcey says Americans “dodged a bullet” when a recent state law banning free speech failed. She reveals why people should think deeper about sexuality and identity issues. Last month, California LGBT activists were enraged by a decision from a member of the California Assembly who is also chairman of their legislative LGBT caucus. Assemblyman Evan Low (D-Campbell)  pulled  controversial bill AB 2943 from consideration, only six months after he introduced it. AB 2943 would have made it illegal for people of any age to receive professional help for unwanted same-sex attractions if the counseling discussed the possibility of change. One media report  stated  that Low “pulled defeat from the jaws of victory” when he abruptly tabled his proposed law. The measure had passed the California Assembly and Senate, which have strong Democratic majorities. For author Nancy Pearcey, the contentious drama over free speech and sexuality illustrates why people of faith particula

Queering Azusa Pacific University

Image
A few days ago, I wrote a post titled  “Queering Azusa Pacific University,”  about the Los Angeles Evangelical Christian college changing its campus policy to be more LGBT-friendly. It was a strange move. The school now tolerates same-sex “romantic” relationships, even as it maintains — in theory — the idea that sex is only appropriate for married male-female couples. This is a feeble attempt by one of the country’s largest conservative Evangelical colleges to satisfy the Zeitgeist while maintaining the fiction that the school is still conservative and Evangelical on human sexuality. On September 24,  Barbara N. Harrington , who teaches writing in Azusa Pacific’s Honors College, sent a letter to the college’s Board of Trustees, alerting them to the radicalization underway at APU. I have seen the letter. A portion of it is below: Dear Members of the Board of Trustees – As we begin another school year, it is very appropriate to thank God for the gift that has been Azusa Pacifi

Christian college restores ban on homosexual relationships after backlash

Image
Azusa Pacific University (APU), an evangelical Christian school in California, has reinstated official language prohibiting homosexual relationships on campus following the backlash. Last week, the school had removed language from its Student Standards of Conduct singling out homosexual relationships as an example of prohibited conduct. The school continued to forbid “sexual intimacy outside the context of” the marriage “covenant between a man and a woman,” but officials accepted LGBT activists’ argument that the overt reference to homosexuality “stigmatized” homosexual students and “falsely assumed that same-sex romances always involved sexual behavior.” On September 28, the APU Board of Trustees released a  statement  announcing that it had not approved the revised language and the “original wording has been reinstated.” Student newspaper  Zu Media   clarifies  that the previous change had been approved by the administrative board, but not the trustees. “We affirm God’s per

6-year-olds forced to write gay ‘love letters’ to teach ‘accepting diversity

Image
England,  – A primary school in England makes children as young as six writes “love letters” inserting themselves into a homosexual fairytale, according to a recent video from BBC Radio Manchester. The Blaze   reports  that the video profiles a class at Bewsey Lodge Primary School, in which teacher Sarah Hopson has her students place themselves in the role of Prince Henry and write a letter asking male servant Thomas to “marry” him. “This school teaches children about LGBT relationships from an early age,” text over the video explains. “This class of 6-year-old is learning about gay marriage [...] all ages take part in LGBT lessons.” Children are “going to go out into that world and find this diversity around them, and they’ll find that at a young age as well,” Hopson told the BBC. “And the more they can be accepting at this age, you’re not going to face it further on because the children will be accepting now and will be accepting this diversity around them.” Bewsey Lodg

Hypocrisy of Human Right Campaign (Gay)

Image
Last week, Senator Lindsey Graham gave a resounding defense of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, standing up for his character and calling out Democrats who laid in wait to sabotage his nomination with last minute, unfounded, allegations of sexual misconduct dating back several decades. Graham's defense of Kavanaugh garnered international media coverage. To get even with Graham for his principled defense of Kavanaugh, the leftist "comedy" program Saturday Night Live lampooned Graham, calling him a "queen," implying that the South Carolina bachelor Senator is gay. They meant this as an insult, something designed to damage him in the court of public opinion. Now get this: The nation's leading pro-gay group, the grossly-misnamed Human Rights Campaign (HRC), said…nothing. So being anti-gay is now OK, provided the attack comes from the left. If it were to come from a group on the right, there would be calls for national boycotts, investigations, pro

Leaving homosexuality documentary

Image
Does sexuality change? How and why? Free to Love is a documentary that delves into the lives of four men in their search for sexual authenticity. In a world that promotes sexual freedom, except when it comes to those seeking to leave homosexuality, this eye-opening film explores the cultural, political, and personal contradictions that present obstacles to an overlooked segment of the population. It's a story of conflict, individuality, hope, and freedom.
