A  recent study in the journal   JAMA Pediatrics   has caused a lot of buzz in the press. The study claims to trace the “Association Between State Same-Sex Marriage Policies and Adolescent Suicide Attempts” among LGBT youth and is being presented by the media as "proof" that gay marriage saves lives. But like much of the  fake news   coverage this study has generated, the study itself leads people to a   fake conclusion :  that somehow the enactment of same-sex marriage results in reduced teen suicide attempts, especially for LGBT teens. In fact, the study proves nothing of the sort. Indeed, some data in the report suggest the opposite may be true in states that have had experience with same-sex marriage the longest. The study begins with the presentation of its conclusions as if they were facts proven by the study. The report opens with a tidy summary and easy to swallow conclusion: Same-sex marriage enactment is associated with reduced teen- suicide attempts .

But the couple haven't always lived this way; Dade was born female, and when the pair first met in 2008 theirs was a lesbian relationship. In fact, Tiffany had previously left her first husband as she believed herself to be gay. An Iowa pastor, saying the government needs to stop "meddling in religious affairs," is at odds with the state over a law focused on sexual orientation and gender identity that he says hinders his First Amendment right to teach on matters of sexuality. "The state of Iowa is not the self-appointed pope of all churches," Cary Gordon, pastor of Cornerstone World Outreach, a nondenominational church with around 900 members in Sioux City, Iowa, told The Daily Signal. An Iowa Civil Rights Commission brochure on sexual orientation and gender identity says churches are places of public accommodation and generally are not exempt from the law, according to First Liberty Institute, a legal organization that defends religious freedom and represents Gordon's church. The brochure says the Iowa Civil Rights Act, Iowa Code Chapter 216, "was expanded to add sexual orientation and gender identity to the list of protected classes." The change took effect in July 2007

The battle over men accessing women’s bathrooms and vice versa has little do with bathrooms or even transgenderism, a well-known LGBT activist admitted last week.  It has everything to do with re-working society and getting rid of the “heterobinary structure” in which we live—eliminating distinctions between “male” and “female” altogether. Riki Wilchins , who has undergone “sex change” surgery and is a far-left social change activist, wrote in the gay publication   The Advocate   last week that social conservatives and many LGBT activists are missing the point when it comes to the transgender bathroom debate.   The Justice Department filed a lawsuit today stating that North Carolina has violated federal civil rights laws by overturning ordinances mandating that transgender people can use the restroom and shower facilities of the opposite biological sex. Three Spanish bishops are telling the faithful that a law passed recently by the Spanish province of Madrid that requires school bathrooms and dressing rooms to allow opposite-sex “transgender” students is “unjust” and therefore “obligates no one in conscience.” The transgender law is an “iniquitous” one that “gravely assaults the fifth commandment of the law of God , and facilitates the violation of the sixth and ninth commandments,” the bishops write in a joint declaration issued late last month.
