A California Court Dealt a Blow to Religious Liberty. It’s Time for SCOTUS to Act.

The California Court of Appeals ruled that a transgender patient can sue a Catholic hospital for refusing to perform a hysterectomy. Yesterday, the California Court of Appeals issued a truly remarkable opinion in a truly remarkable case. It held that a Catholic hospital could indeed face legal liability for failing to perform a hysterectomy as part of a female-to-male “transition” — even though its policy broadly bans sterilization surgery generally (not just for trans individuals) and even though the hospital referred the patient to a non-Catholic facility in the same network. The patient obtained the hysterectomy a mere three days after the originally scheduled surgery date and sued anyway. The facts of the case are simple . The plaintiff, Evan Minton, initially scheduled a hysterectomy for August 30, 2016, at Mercy San Juan Medical Center (part of the Dignity Health hospital network) as a treatment for gender dysphoria. Mercy is a Catholic hospital, and the day before the

The Great Transgender Mistake

Image
The great enemy of the radical transgender movement is science. Biological realities can be stubborn, and no amount of human tampering can change those realities. When it comes to compassion, we have plenty of that. We want to see people freed from their internal pain. We want to see them find a resolution for the emotional torment they’re experiencing. We want our friends and co-workers and family members, especially our children, to be happy. But no amount of compassion can change biological and chromosomal realities. That is why the transgender movement is starting to hit a wall. Science is against it. Again, as I’ve stated many times, we’re not talking about those who are intersex. That is, those who suffer from a biological or chromosomal abnormality. We’re talking about biological and chromosomal males who believe they are females or vice versa. Far More Research Needed, Doctors Say Now, physicians in England are speaking up. As the Daily Mail reported on July 6,

Spanish pro-family group wins court battles in fight against transgender ideology

Image
The Autono mous Community of Madrid, which governs Spain’s capital and immediately surrounding region, has been ordered by a court to repay fines levied against a civic group for distributing pro-family materials in schools. In 2017, the local government of Madrid fined HazteOir.org 1,500 euros for having distributed to 1,709 schools a booklet criticizing LGBTQ regulations that had been supported across the political spectrum, including by the right-of-center pro-business Popular Party.  Critics contend that the “gag rule” regulations not only violate fundamental rights, such as free speech but also usurp the power of judges by sanctioning with administrative fines levied upon those expressing opinions deemed offensive. Local authorities had imposed the fine on HazteOir.org without taking recourse to the courts. The Administrative Law Court of Madrid  issued a ruling in June  that called on local authorities in Madrid to repay the 1,500 euros in fines paid by HazTeOir.org for

Top library group colludes with local librarians to ‘sneak’ LGBT content to kids

Image
The American Library Association (ALA) website has scrubbed the author’s name from an article in which a Maryland librarian describes ways children’s librarians can sneak LGBT content and activities into libraries located in conservative rural areas. Librarian Tess Goldwasser’s name apparently was recently removed from her ALA  article  after national pressure began to build against a Drag Queen Story Hour planned next week for a local branch within the St.Mary’s County library system, where Goldwasser works as an assistant branch manager of youth services. When Personhood Alliance’s Maryland affiliate, local activist  Georgia Kijesky , submitted a letter to the editor of the  St. Mary’s County Times  about the upcoming Drag Queen Story Hour to be held in the Lexington Park library near her home, she cited the June 2017 ALA article by Goldwasser.   The editor replied that there was no way to prove that Goldwasser had authored the piece. Kijesky revisited the online ALA arti

Girls vs. Transgender: Girls Will Lose Every Time

Image
Yet again,  two boys competing on the girls’ track team in Connecticut  have beaten the competition (no surprise!) and taken the titles and set new records and prevented girls from advancing to the championships. Notice my language here, because this is the point. I’m not calling these students “transgender.” I’m calling them boys because that’s what they are. The news articles will use all the required Newspeak, but I will not. They were not merely “born male,”  they are male.  This ridiculous gibberish will be the death of us. Especially women. One girl on the team is bravely protesting this injustice. Selina Soule is a gutsy young lady, and I applaud her courage. I applaud her mother as well for standing up for her daughter and facing down the public backlash that will come their way. Conceding to the Insanity Yet even in their protest, you can hear the echo of concession to gender ideology insanity. Like all women now, they’re in a tough spot. They know well the bullyin

Transgender Revolution is Turning the World Upside Down for Nothing

Image
It is often said (misquoting G. K. Chesterton) that when a man stops believing in God, he doesn’t believe in nothing, he’ll believe anything. Not so. The transgender revolution proves people without God will happily believe in nothing. Transgender ideology is as nothing as nothing could be. There’s no reason for it. No argument at all. Even the Communist revolution was built on firmer ground — which is saying a lot. Take one complete disaster of a horrific idea, then imagine another one that has even fewer reasons supporting it. Now you’re in transgenderism’s neighborhood. I’m talking about trans activism here, not gender dysphoria. So I’m not questioning gender dysphoric persons’ need for understanding, compassion and authentic care. It’s a difficult, distressing condition — but it afflicts fewer than one-tenth of one percent of adults. Take one complete disaster of a horrific idea, then imagine another one that has even fewer reasons supporting it. Now you’re in transgende

The Evil Too Few Have Seen Behind Transgenderism’s Mind Control

Image
There’s a witch in C. S. Lewis’s  The Silver Chair,  the “Queen of the Underland,” whose words and magically convince the story’s heroes that the world above ground isn’t real. This mind-control magic shows up often in fairy tales and fantasy stories. And it’s always an evil witch or wizard who’s responsible — because it’s always wrong to force your thoughts, your views, your “reality” on another, allowing them no resistance. Which is exactly the sort of evil you see being practiced in today’s transgender movement? I’m frankly shocked more people aren’t calling activists to account for it. Maybe we’re not reading enough stories. Think of it: When a man says, “I’m actually a woman,” those words aren’t merely supposed to change your view of him. They’re supposed to change  reality  — for everyone. He is now a woman, a reality that comes into being simply through the power of his words. We must speak to him as a woman, see him as one, think of him as one. We must consider him as

Fined $55,000 for Calling a Male a Male

Image
We told you this was coming. We warned you it would happen. We were not crying wolf. We were telling you the truth. And now it is here, as a headline  announces : “Canadian tribunal fines Bill Whatcott $55,000 for expressing Christian views on ‘transgenderism.’” In other words, Whatcott called a biological male (who identifies as a female) a “biological male.” That was his crime. What a miscarriage of justice. What an assault of freedom of speech and expression. John Carpay, president of the Justice Center for Constitutional Freedom, defended Whatcott,  noting  in protest that, “The Supreme Court of Canada has long held that freedom of expression is the lifeblood of democracy.” But not when it crosses the lines of transgender activism. Freedom halts there. Carpay added, “Society is full of people with diverse views and the Tribunal’s decision undermines the foundational principles of the free society and jeopardizes the health of Canada’s democracy.” Silencing Opposition

Mandate for LGBT school lessons ‘Indoctrination, not history’

Image
The Illinois House has passed a controversial bill requiring public school history textbooks to include “the roles and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in the history of this country and this state.”   Known as HB 246, the measure passed by a comfortable 60-42 margin, largely along party lines, with three Democrats joining Republicans in opposition to the proposed legislation. No Republicans voted in favor of the bill. The bill aims to amend the state’s textbook block grant program, mandating the purchase of textbooks that highlight the contributions of all groups protected under the Illinois Human Rights Act.      “There is nothing that prevents the teaching of the lives of historical figures including if they were known to have been homosexuals,” said Rep. Darren Bailey. “But forcing that information on five-year-olds and elementary school children is more of an effort of indoctrination than of learning history about individuals who accomplish
