Review finds number of pro-homosexual clubs rising at U.S. Catholic universities

Image via Wikipedia SPRING GROVE, PA, December 7, 2011  – A review by the youth network of the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP), found that out of 244 Catholic universities and colleges in America , 107, or 43%, recognize student clubs that favor the homosexual agenda, according to their official websites . A similar survey by TFP Student Action in 2008 found that 96 Catholic university websites contained information about pro-homosexual clubs. “A sort of dictatorship of tolerance is slowly squeezing out the truth, silencing Catholic teaching right on Catholic campuses,” said TFP Student Action Director John Ritchie. “More and more Catholic college students are confronted with visible, active and well-funded pro-homosexual clubs that openly contradict natural law and undermine moral values.” “To see this happening at Catholic institutions of higher learning is particularly disturbing,” Ritchie said, adding that many of the pro-homosexual cl

Principal says students will no longer be punished for saying ‘God, bless you’

Image via Wikipedia VACAVILLE, California , October 4, 2011 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The principal of a California school about 45 miles from San Francisco has said that students will no longer be disciplined for saying “ God , bless you” in class. The principal’s statement follows news that a health teacher at William C. Wood High School took grade points away from his students for saying “God, bless you” when someone sneezed. “He realizes his mistake and that this wasn’t the best way to get the kids to behave,” Principal Cliff DeGraw told Sacramento ’s  FOX40 . When Taylor McGinley sneezed in her health class at William C. Wood High School a few weeks ago, a student replied with “God, bless you.” Health teacher Steven Cuckovich, however, reportedly responded by disciplining the students,  telling them  that “the blessing doesn’t really make sense anymore.” “(Cuckovich) said, ‘Do you think that girl is evil, do you think the evil spirits are coming out of her?’ And the guy that sa

Texas high school student suspended for saying homosexuality is wrong

Image
A Christian high school student was punished by his school this week for saying he believes “being a homosexual is wrong.” 14-year-old Dakota Ary was suspended for saying he believes being a homosexual is "wrong." Dakota Ary, 14, says his statement was part of a one-on-one conversation about religions in Germany with a friend sitting behind him during a language class, according to a local  Fox News report . “I guess [the teacher] heard me. He started yelling,” said Ary. “He told me he was going to write me an infraction and send me to the office.” Holly Pope, Ary’s mother, said she was in “disbelief” over the punishment. “My son is on the honor roll with great grades. I don’t have any problems out of him,” she said. The mother was not satisfied when the school principal reduced the in-school suspension from two days to one. She brought an attorney with her to meet the principal Wednesday and is demaning a promise of no retaliation over the event and that the event be remo

Lies, seduction, and criminal activity: pro-family group exposes homosexual ‘Out in Schools’ program

Image
Image via Wikipedia A national organization located in British Columbia is seeking to expose what they argue are the lies, seduction, and criminal activity at the heart of the homosexual agenda being pushed on students in Canadian schools. “I believe parents will be shocked and righteously angry when they find out what their children have been subjected to. I hope parents sue their local school boards!” said Kari Simpson, President of Culture Guard, an organization that seeks to safeguard community values such as the natural family, parental rights, and the sanctity of life. The Lies Simpson uncovered what she says was only the tip of the iceberg of the strategy to indoctrinate kids into what she calls the “ homosexist sex-activism culture” when she came across  Out in Schools (OIS) . The program targets students aged 13-18 years and aims to bring “queer films” to local schools to “facilitate discussion with youth on bullying, homophobia and stereotypes” and to provide a “safe spac

Obama education secretary pushes gay groups in public schools

Image
Image via Wikipedia The Obama administration ’s head of education has encouraged all U.S. school districts to host student groups that affirm homosexuality . In a letter to educators June 14 picked up by  CNSNews.com , Education Secretary Arne Duncan said that “gay-straight alliance” ( GSA ) groups “can play an important role in promoting safer schools and creating more welcoming learning environments.” The letter, issued from the department’s Office of Civil Rights , emphasized that the Equal Access Act was “rooted in principles of equal treatment and freedom of expression” and would therefore protect secondary schools that sanctioned homosexual groups.   http://www2.ed.gov/policy/elsec/guid/secletter/110607.html “I encourage every school district to make sure that its administrators, faculty members, staff, students, and parents are familiar with these principles in order to protect the rights of all students — regardless of religion, political or philosophical views, sexual

Gay activist 16-yr-old says Ontario Bishops’ approval of gay clubs encouraged her activism

Image via Wikipedia Leanne Iskander, a 16-year-old student at a Catholic high school , has been made the poster-teen for gay-straight alliances in the province’s Catholic schools.  Writing in a Toronto paper Iskander says she was encouraged in her pursuit by the Ontario bishops’ decision in April to allow homosexual “anti-bullying” clubs. “The bishops’ decision to allow LGBT -specific anti-bullying groups was a huge step that I really wasn’t expecting,” 16-year-old Leanne Iskander  wrote in the Torontoist  on Saturday.  “I think it has encouraged me to keep fighting for a GSA . I’m pretty optimistic that we will eventually get there.” “I think the most surprising thing I’ve learned from the experience was that even a system as strong as the Catholic school system will eventually bend to meet the needs of the students if there’s enough pressure,” she added. Iskander has become the newest face of youth activism for Canada’s homosexual lobby in recent months, with her campaign gettin

Concerned Burnaby parents decry ‘deliberate descrimination’ in debate over ‘homophobia’ policy

Image
Image via Wikipedia BURNABY, British Columbia . In a strongly-worded news release issued today, Burnaby public school parents and students who have voiced concerns with the board’s controversial “homophobia” policy demanded that the board and trustees cease their own “deliberate discrimination” against concerned parties.  They say that they have learned that the original advisory committee on the policy was composed “exclusively” of gay activists and those sympathetic to their cause, and are demanding transparency about any intended changes to the school curriculum . The Parents’ Voice , a parent-initiated group to connect and inform concerned students and parents, announced a rally and press conference tonight that will outline the “growing concerns” about  draft policy 5.45 . The parents  believe  the controversial policy, which includes reference to embedding gay-related issues into teacher training and student curriculum, will promote homosexuality to their children and discri

Debate over BC schools ‘homophobia’ policy heats up

Image
Image via Wikipedia Debate is heating up over the adoption of a controversial “homophobia/heterosexism” policy in the Burnaby School District of British Columbia .  Concerned parents  say  Draft Policy 5.45 would promote homosexuality to their children and discriminate against those who oppose a homosexual lifestyle. Trustees, on the other hand, maintain the policy merely ensures a safe and caring environment. Parents have also expressed frustration that trustees have not met their demands for transparency on the policy specifics. The  draft policy , approved by the board of trustees February 22, 2011, defines “heterosexism” as a “mistaken assumption” that “all people are heterosexual and that heterosexuality is superior and the norm by which all other sexual orientation and gender identities are measured.”   It says it “perpetuates negative stereotypes and is dangerous to individuals and communities.” (For previous LSN coverage click  here ) Parents and students gather last Tue
