HONOLULU , – Although teeming crowds of thousands, perhaps the largest in the history of state politics, opposed it, the Hawaiian legislature passed a bill redefining marriage. In a signing ceremony today, Governor Neil Abercrombie said the bill furthered “fairness, justice, and human equality” in the state. "Today, we celebrate our diversity defining us rather than dividing us," he said, after calling a special session of the legislature to pass the bill. An estimated 10,000 people from the various islands that compose the state attended a marriage preservation rally at the capital of Oahu on Monday, October 28. Another 24,000-plus written comments were sent in on the topic. Some 5,184 citizens signed up for the opportunity to testify before the state Senate 's public hearing for two minutes each, later reduced to one minute. A total of 1,800 showed up, but only 425 were allowed to testify before State Senator Clayton Hee cut the meeting off. Those who

John McCain, Jeff Flake broke campaign promises by voting for ENDA

Two Republican Senators are coming under harsh criticism after breaking campaign promises not to vote for the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA).  John McCain and Jeff Flake , both of Arizona , were two of the  10 Republicans who voted for the transgender “rights” bill ENDA  when it passed the Senate by a 64-32 vote on Thursday. Arizona was the only state with two Republican senators to see both vote for the bill. Jeff Flake ENDA gives homosexuals, bisexuals, and transgender people special rights and protections against “discrimination” in the workplace – rights usually restricted for discrimination based on race, religion, or sex. But when they were seeking re-election, both McCain and Flake told state voters they opposed “adding 'sexual orientation,' ' gender identity ,' or 'gender expression' to protected classes or race, religion, age, sex, and ancestry in discrimination law." McCain and Flake made their statements in response to

After granting foreign immoral same-sex ‘marriage,’ Canadian Senate now approves gay divorce bill

Legislation tabled by the Conservative government last year to allow foreign homosexual couples to divorce after taking advantage of the country’s liberal same-sex “marriage” law has sailed through the Senate. It had previously escaped a word of debate in the House of Commons . C-32  will amend the Civil Marriage Act so that the “marriages” of foreign same-sex couples who travel to Canada for the ceremony will be considered valid in Canada, “even if one or both of the non-residents do not, at the time of the marriage, have the capacity to enter into it under the law of their respective state of domicile.” Rob Nicholson The bill allows a “new divorce process” to be established that “allows a Canadian court to grant a divorce to non-resident spouses who reside in a state where a divorce cannot be granted to them because that state does not recognize the validity of their marriage.” Gwen Landolt, national vice-president of REAL Women Canada, told LifeSiteNews that the amen

Canada's transgender confusion

OTTAWA, Ontario , June 12, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - Bill C-279, the Canadian transgender bill, sailed through the Senate Committee on Human Rights on Monday, despite  testimony  during the meeting from the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal that transgendered people are already protected on the grounds of “sex and disability”. Joanne Brownrigg, a lobbyist for Campaign Life Coalition who attended the meeting, told LifeSiteNews.com that in the committee’s “unbridled enthusiasm to pass the bill and appear like heroes they were required to suspend all reason and rationality.”  NDP LGBTT Critic Randall Garrison , who introduced the bill “So little of what was said rested on legal arguments and the actual good that this law would do,” she said.  A number of groups supporting the bill, including the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) , argued to the committee that the bill would “make a very clear statement about the invisibility of transgender people”.  Noa Mendelsohn Aviv, Dire

Rhode Island to become 10th state to allow immoral homosexual 'marriage'

PROVIDENCE, RI, April 26, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Rhode Island is poised to become the 10 th state to approve same-sex “marriage.” The Rhode Island State Senate Wednesday voted 26-12 in favor of a bill redefining marriage to include homosexual couples. The vote came after the House overwhelmingly approved the measure in January, and after Senate President Teresa Paiva-Weed , a Democrat who opposes same-sex “marriage,” nonetheless allowed the bill to come to the floor for a vote. The bill will now go back to the House for a perfunctory vote before being forwarded to Gov. Lincoln Chafee for his signature. The governor has previously expressed his support for the bill. Gov. Lincoln Chafee Once signed, the bill will take effect August 1. After that date, civil unions will no longer be available to same-sex couples in Rhode Island, only marriage. However, the state will continue to recognize existing civil partnerships that have been formed since the state approved civ

The defeat of the bill means that it will not pass to the lower Chamber of Deputies , and is effectively dead.  However, the country is rapidly approaching a deadline set by the Constitutional Court in a July 2011 ruling requiring homosexual couples to be given benefits similar to those associated with marriage. The defeat followed days of growing protests outside of the Senate building, with demonstrators chanting "I won't shut up, I won't shut up, marriage is between a man and a woman!" "The bill sank because it is not of general interest.  Heterosexual marriage is of public interest because it has to do with procreation and the conservatio
