Scottish school chaplain removed after posting Facebook message on homosexuality

Image
GLASGOW, January 7, 2014  - A Church of Scotland minister has been removed as chaplain from a Glasgow non- denominational school after parents complained about a Facebook post he wrote expounding traditional Christian teaching on homosexuality. In November, Rev. Donald Michael MacInnes, minister of Gairbraid Church in Maryhill , Glasgow, posted his criticism of the Scottish government's decision to support a bill legalizing same-sex "marriage." Rev. Donald Michael MacInnes "We can now expect to see the school curriculum changed to the end that our children will be taught this perversion as if it were a good thing,” he wrote. Glasgow City Council , which oversees Glasgow Gaelic School, announced Jan. 6 th  that the remarks had cost the minister his job. A spokeswoman for the Council said while the minister was entitled to his opinion, “The man is no longer the Chaplain at the school and this decision was taken by the headteacher as soon a

Scottish MP's will loose seats if they vote for homosexual marriage

Several prominent MSPs could lose their seats over their support for same-sex marriage, a campaign group has warned. In ten constituencies, the number of people who are against gay marriage is greater than the MSPs' respective majorities, according to a list produced by Scotland for Marriage. Three senior MSPs from the Scottish National Party appear on the list - Gil Paterson , Sandra White and Marco Biagi - along with the former Scottish Labour leader Iain Gray. Democracy A spokesman from Scotland for Marriage said the analysis is "merely democracy in action" and is not a threat. "MSPs need to pay heed to what we are saying and our supporters will not be frightened to demonstrate their feelings at the next election. And for some, their votes could be decisive", he said. "Our members are exercising their democratic rights and MSPs should have the decency to meet and listen to those who don't share their views", he added. Australia next? Person fined $62,000 for ‘homophobic’ Twitter message

EDINBURGH, Scotland , - The Court of Session in Edinburgh has fined a Scottish man £40,000 ($62,020 U.S.) in damages after he sent a message on Twitter calling a lesbian same-sex "marriage" advocate "a danger to children." David Shuttleton Lesbian Jaye Richards-Hill sued David Shuttleton, an antiques dealer from Barrhead, near Glasgow, for defamation because of his remarks about her homosexual activism. Shuttleton reportedly also sent messages to First Minister Alex Salmond and Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon relating his concerns about Richards-Hill, a teacher and adviser to Education Secretary Mike Russell, Calling people who disagree with his anti-gay campaign "normalphobes," Shuttleton told the  Daily Record , "It’s an absolute scandal that homosexuals have got such power in our community. It’s an absolutely scandalous abuse of our laws." While the huge award may set a precedent in cases involving alleged "homop

Traditional marriage advocates could be prosecuted in Scotland, legal experts warn

Image
Despite all government insistence to the contrary, those who publicly object to gay “marriage” in Scotland could be facing lawsuits or even prosecutions, a group of legal experts has warned. The  Faculty of Advocates  has cautioned the Scottish government that their plans to redefine marriage will result in serious threats to freedom of expression. Combined with the 2010 Equality Act, the draft law will create “conflict” between those who in conscience disagree with the concept of same-sex “marriage” and “public authorities,” who will be “required to promote same-sex marriage,” the Faculty said  in their submission  on the bill’s public consultation. Freedom of speech to object to redefining marriage would be offered only to religious ministers under the bill, but the Faculty of Advocates have pointed out that this is a right that belongs to all citizens. Scottish Catholic adoption agency threatened with closure over gay adoption

Image
Another British Catholic adoption agency is being threatened with closure by the government for refusing to toe the government’s line of support for the homosexualist political agenda. St. Margaret ’s Children and Family Care Society, associated with the Catholic archdiocese of Glasgow, has lost a ruling in its argument with the Scottish government’s charity regulator, which is demanding the charity drop its policy of adopting only to mothers and fathers who have been married for at least two years.  The Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) has found St. Margaret’s in violation of the Equality Act 2010 , saying that its policy "discriminated unlawfully" against same-sex couples. St. Margaret’s is remaining defiant, however, saying that they will fight the decision. The Christian Institute campaign group quoted a St. Margaret’s board member saying,  “The ultimate irony is that apparently in the name of tolerance, societies such as Saint Margaret’s ar

Orthodox Presbyterian breakaway group kicked out of hotel for opposing ‘gay marriage’

ABERDEEN, Scotland , March 26, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – A small breakaway church group has been banned from using a meeting room at a hotel in Aberdeen over their opposition to same-sex “marriage” and homosexual activity . The Gilcomston church were turned away from the Copthorne Hotel, where they were to hold their first communion service on March 10th , the Christian Institute reports. The hotel said they banned the group after they received complaints from clients and members of the public that their views on marriage were “offensive”. The group has been temporarily allowed to move back into their church building , owned by the Church of Scotland . The group’s minister said, “We were just going to have a church service. So much for the tolerant society. It made us feel hounded.” The group, about 300-strong, formally left the Church of Scotland, called the Kirk, after the Presbyterian denomination started ordaining active and unrepentant homosexual ministers. In 2009, the Ki

Anger as UK homosexualists declare Edinburgh cardinal “bigot of the year”

Image
EDINBURGH, November 5, 2012 – Christian believers and others in Britain are expressing outrage after the country’s leading homosexualist lobby group declared the Cardinal Archbishop of Edinburgh, Keith O’Brien , “Bigot of the Year” for his opposition to “gay marriage”. While Stonewall and some others continue to defend the award category, even some of the group’s greatest supporters have criticized it, saying the designation damages their own cause. Gerald Warner , a Catholic journalist and sometime policy advisor to the Scottish Conservative party, called the award a sign that the homosexualist movement is sinking further into “homofascism”. He told LifeSiteNews.com, “How would the politically correct media respond if the most prominent Catholic pressure group in Britain last night voted Ben Summerskill, of Stonewall, ‘Weirdo of the Year’? We all know the answer. “So why is ‘hate speech,’ and even a hate award, acceptable, so long as it is directed against a Prince of th

Scottish children called ‘Nazis’ for opposing ‘gay marriage’, says bishops’ official

BRUSSELS, October 9, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – John Deighan, the parliamentary officer of the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland , told a conference in Brussels that even young children are being branded as “bigots” and “Nazis” for daring to openly oppose same-sex “marriage.” “I know, for example, of children in Scotland, including my own 12-year-old child, who have been branded as ‘Nazis’ and ‘bigots’ because they have dared to disagree with the idea of same-sex marriage,” Deighan said. John Deighan Deighan was speaking at a seminar held in Brussels of European Parliamentary groups on the growing pressure against believing Christians in Europe who oppose the “progressivist” agenda pushing acceptance of homosexuality and the redefinition of the family.  Deighan said that homosexualist lobbyists like Stonewall and the Equality Network have created “intense levels of hostility” against anyone who opposes their agenda. “People are increasingly being subjected to manipulation

What happens when we redefine marriage?

Image
October 10, 2012 ( Mercatornet.com ) - Back  in January  I set out David Cameron ’s proposals for creating same-sex marriage, which he announced at the British Conservative Party ’s annual Conference in October 2011, alongside some arguments against those plans. A year later, the controversy has moved on. There are now two parallel movements for same-sex marriage in the UK , a result of the devolution of powers to the Scottish Government .  A consultation  in Scotland ended in December 2011 and its results were snuck out shortly before Olympic fever dominated the Isles. It is notable how divisive same-sex marriage has been north of Hadrian’s Wall: an ‘unprecedented’ 77,508 responses were received in the ‘largest consultation exercise of its type ever held in Scotland’. Over 33,000 responses were submitted via forms amended by organisations with an interest in the two core proposals of same-sex civil marriage and religious civil partnerships.
