Archbishop rebukes top cardinal’s proposal for liturgical ‘blessing’ for homosexuals

Image
An influential archbishop in the United States has issued a strong warning after Germany ’s leading cardinal endorsed the idea of introducing a formal rite of “blessing” for homosexual couples. Archbishop Charles Chaput says a “blessing rite” such as that proposed by Munich Cardinal Reinhard Marx would “undermine the Catholic witness” on marriage and “wound” the unity of the Church. YOU CALL SINNERS TO REPENTANCE NOT TO CELEBRATIONS! “The imprudence of such public statements is—and should be—the cause of serious concern,” the archbishop of Philadelphia wrote in his weekly column on Tuesday. “It requires a response because what happens in one local reality of the global Church inevitably resonates elsewhere—including eventually here.” Cardinal Marx has become one of the most influential prelates under Pope Francis . He serves on the council of nine cardinals who are advising the Pope on Church reform. He is president of the German bishops’ conference , and president o

One of Pope’s 9 advisor Cardinals proposes ‘liturgical’ blessings of homosexual unions

Image
Cardinal Reinhard Marx , chairman of the German Episcopal Conference and close advisor of Pope Francis , has told the German media that “one must encourage priests” to give encouragement to homosexual unions, which could include public blessings that would take a “liturgical” form. THE BIBLE STATES HOMOSEXUALITY IS A SIN NOT TO BE BLESSED Marx was asked in a radio  interview  yesterday why the Catholic Church “does not always move forward when it comes to demands from some Catholics regarding, for example, the ordination of female deacons, the blessing of homosexual couples, or the abolition of compulsory celibacy [for priests].” Marx responded that “closer pastoral care ” must be given to homosexuals, adding that “one must also encourage priests and pastoral workers to give people in concrete situations [of homosexual unions] encouragement. I do not really see any problems there.” This “encouragement” might include some sort of “liturgical” recognition of their union,

Homosexual pictures removed from booklet ahead of Pope’s visit to Ireland for family event

Image
Mary McAleese (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Pictures of homosexual couples have been removed from a booklet sent to parishes ahead of Pope Francis ‘s expected to visit to Ireland in August for the World Meeting of Families (WMF) in Dublin . The informational booklet “Amoris: Let’s talk Family ! Let’s be Family!” originally included five pictures of immoral sinful homosexual couples. All of them were removed by the WMF office in Dublin, along with language. “While the Church upholds the ideal of marriage as a permanent commitment between a man and a woman, other unions exist which provide mutual support to the couple,” the now absent text read. Such blatant lies in simple wording. What should have been said was there are other unions which are immoral, against God 's direct teaching, are condemned as God has already judged such relationships a described in Romans 1 .  Pope Francis incorrect non-biblical 2013 headlines for his comments when asked about gay people . “If a per

Los Angeles Archdiocese promotes LGBT agenda at ‘Religious Education Congress’

Image
Under the leadership of the ultraliberal Cardinal Robert Mahoney, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles ’ annual Religious Education Congress  – billed as the biggest annual gathering of Catholics in the country – gained a reputation for functioning as a platform for dissidents who seek to undermine Catholic doctrine on life and family issues.  When Mahoney left office in 2011 in disgrace following revelations of his protection of priests accused of child sex abuse, he was replaced by Archbishop José Gomez, a former Opus Dei priest perceived as a conservative. Expectations were high that Gomez’s administration would lead to a reversal of Mahoney’s policies. However, almost seven years later, the Religious Education Congress continues to promote Mahoney’s dissident agenda with apparent impunity, at the expense of the Church’s doctrines on life and family.  This year, as in previous years, the Religious Education Congress  features  a roster of speakers that includes promoters of th

New Zealand Bishop doesn't understand homosexuality is a sin?

THE IDIOT IN CHARGE OF A NEW ZEALAND CHURCH Cardinal John De w, the Archbishop of Wellington , New Zealand ; Bishop Patrick Dunn of Auckland; and Bishop Stephen Lowe of Hamilton held a workshop for young Catholics called “Bishop’s Banter” at St. Mary’s College in Ponsonby, New Zealand . According to an article appearing in  NZCatholic , many of the questions dealt with the issue of homosexuality and same-sex "marriage:" Bishop Lowe said he thinks young people are leading the way in terms of relating with the LGBT community . “I think young people are prophets of the Church. They always have something to say to the Church. And that’s what has come up. Young people want the Church to be more engaging with them ( LGBT people ),” he said. He said the issue of homosexuality may be a “ Galileo moment” for the Church. He continued: “The psychology is still up for debate, but the Church has got to engage with the science and engage with the experience of couples wi

It’s ‘wildly unhealthy’ for everyone when a priest tells his congregation he’s ‘gay’: Catholic priest

Image
For a few years now I have had the privilege to walk with men and women who experience same sex attraction , and who desire to live an integrated life of wholeness and joy, in fidelity to the demands of chastity. They do not like the terms “ gay ” or “lesbian” because they understand that whole, healthy persons do not reduce themselves to their mere parts, or to labels that can put them in boxes for years to come. These same men and women also understand the pitfalls of sharing their own sexual struggles and attractions with wide audiences. Occasionally some of them may prayerfully discern the need for a carefully delivered witness talk about their story in support of the Church’s teachings, but such situations should be the exception rather than the norm. In our modern culture where the prevailing approach to sexuality is to speak without restraint, the people that I walk with attempt to take a very different approach that treats such topics with the delicacy, modesty, and s

Telling kids they can ‘change’ sex is harmful: US Catholic bishops with other faith leaders

Image
“Children especially are harmed when they are told that they can ‘change’ their sex or, further, given hormones that will affect their development and possibly render them infertile as adults.” So says a letter released Friday and initiated by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops , and joined by faith leaders from the Lutherans, Anglicans, Orthodox, Presbyterians, and Southern Baptists . One Islamic representative also signed the document. “Gender ideology harms individuals and societies by sowing confusion and self-doubt,” the statement says. The bishops and other religious leaders denounce transgender ideology, calling it a “false idea” that a man could become a woman or a woman a man.  “The movement today to enforce the false idea—that a man can be or become a woman or vice versa—is deeply troubling. It compels people to either go against reason—that is, to agree with something that is not true—or face ridicule, marginalization, and other forms of retaliation,” they sta

‘Married’ homosexual serves on parish council in pro-LGBT bishop’s diocese

Peruse the  online biographies of the St. Clare Parish Council  in California and one comes across this line: “John and his husband Willie are the parents of twin third graders at St. Clare School.” As it turns out, not only is "John" a member of the parish council, this man who is “married” to another man is also employed by Catholic Charities , “training psychology interns and providing bilingual mental health services.” For the last decade or so, local Catholic Charities across the country have been chased out of the adoption business in one jurisdiction after another because of their belief that children deserve both a mother and a father. Yet that belief evidently does not extend to employees at Catholic Charities of Santa Clara.    Parish Is Under Pro- LGBT Bishop McGrath St. Clare Parish is in the Diocese of San Jose , headed by outspoken pro- gay Bishop Patrick McGrath .   Just two weeks ago,  McGrath issued a terse letter  to the priests and ot
