Amended same-sex marriage law passed in French Senate today to be rammed through Assembly next week

Image
PARIS, April 12, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - The French Senate gave final approval this morning to legislation permitting same-sex couples to “marry” and adopt children. Several amendments were made to the text approved by the National Assembly in February, making a second reading necessary in the National Assembly. Only hours after the vote, the government unexpectedly announced that the legislation will return to the Assembly next Wednesday, five weeks before the intended schedule. It is considered likely that only limited time will be allowed for discussion of the text and the government is apparently hoping that the amended articles will be passed without further changes, making subsequent legislative procedures unnecessary. French Senate The law’s main articles legalizing same-sex “marriage” and adoption were passed earlier this week by the Senate exactly as worded by the National Assembly, and will most probably not even be discussed during the second reading. March 25, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - According to organizers, nearly one and a half million people joined the third demonstration in five months against the legalization of same-sex “marriage” by the French government in Paris , on Sunday. Meanwhile, large numbers of demonstrators who were unable to join the main venue – which had filled up by 3 p.m. – or who headed straight to the largest and most prestigious Parisian thoroughfare, the Champs-Elysées , were sprayed with tear-gas and beaten as they neared the presidential palace. Victims included children as young as 6 years old, elderly gentlemen, women of all ages, middle-aged priests and monks, and even a baby aged 10 months. One boy, aged 14, named Lancelot, needed respiratory assistance for half an hour; another youth, Léonard, 17, was gassed and subsequently seized by riot police who threw him down the stairs at the entrance of a nearby subway station. How the French are fighting for marriage

Image
PARIS, March 15, 2013 ( Heritage Foundation ) - On March 26, thousands of Americans will gather in Washington, D.C., for the national  March for Marriage . They’ll have to work hard to match the élan of the French , who are getting ready for their  third marriage rally  in Paris on the 24th. In November, 100,000 people gathered in the French capital to protest a bill to recognize gay marriage . On January 13, Paris was blanketed in a sea of a bright pink—who said that defending marriage could not be done with a bit of flair?—as a million people stretched for  half a mile in front of the Eiffel Tower , chanting  “Mariageophiles, pas homophobes!”  (“Marriage lovers, not homophobes!”) and  “Un père, une mère, c’est élémentaire!”  (“One father, one mother: It’s basic!”—which rhymes in French). Ignoring the tidal wave of discontent, the National Assembly still passed the bill. Undeterred, the pro-marriage movement gathered 700,000 signatures in less than two weeks to demand that

French immoral homosexual ‘marriage’ bill passes in lower House

Image
PARIS , February 12, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – In a vote of 329-to-229, the Lower House of the French parliament has voted to bring in “gay marriage,” a decision that is generating a surprising force of opposition in this heavily secularised country. The bill must now go on to the Senate for final approval. The bill proposes to change the legal definition of marriage to being between two persons instead of a man and a woman, and allows same-sex partners to adopt children. The gay 'marriage' bill is backed by President François Hollande ’s Socialists Backed by President François Hollande’s Socialists and other left-wing MPs , the bill has prompted some spectacular public outpourings of opposition. Among those demonstrating against the bill are some homosexuals who say that it is not necessary to change the definition of marriage, given that existing civil partnership legislation grants most of the same privileges and rights. Religious leaders have objected that t

French National Assembly votes to redefine marriage

Image
PARIS , February 4, 2013, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The French National Assembly voted to redefine marriage on Saturday by a large majority vote of 249-97. Observers believe the vote means the traditionally, but now nominally Catholic country will legalize same-sex nuptials. The vote ignores an estimated  one million people who marched in the streets last month  to support natural marriage. Socialist President Francois Hollande is an outspoken supporter of same-sex “marriage” and has pledged to sign the bill if it passes the Senate which is expected to easily happen because of Hollande's strong support for the measure. The bill also includes a measure permitting homosexuals to adopt children. Debate on the measure is expected to continue for several more days before the Senate vote takes place. When passed, the legislation will make France the ninth EU nation to redefine marriage to include same-sex spouses. How sin and evil spreads through foolish politicans who ra

Pro-gay ‘marriage’ march in France eclipsed by much larger traditional marriage rally

January 31, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - An estimated 120,000 people, according to the police, demonstrated in Paris on Sunday afternoon in support of government plans to legalize same-sex “marriage” and abortion. Organizers of the event – LGBT associations, “homoparental” family unions, trade unions, high school unions and the socialist, communist, leftwing and green parties – claim 400,000 people took to the streets in the sunny winter weather. If police numbers are correct that would indicate as many as ten times the number of people took part in t he demonstration against homosexual “marriage”  earlier this month. According to some estimates more than a million people participated in the marches opposing gay “marriage.” Given that Sunday’s event was a response to that enormous show of force, it would appear the defenders of “pro-true marriage” won hands down.  Pro-gay “marriage” campaigners clearly anticipated their loss. On Saturday, homosexualist leaders were already

January 14, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - A million. And more. The turnout for this Sunday’s demonstration against French President François Hollande ’s move to legalize same-sex “marriage” reached gigantic and even un-hoped for proportions. Paris was covered with blue, white and pink flags marking grassroot France’s opposition to the unthinkable, as three apparently endless distinct marches converged at the foot of the Eiffel tower . The triple itinerary was mandated by the Parisian police, and was seen by many as an attempt by the minister of the Interior to weaken the event visually by dividing its forces. It turned out to be a Godsend. The first demonstrators started leaving the three departure points an hour before intended, at noon, but even so, the last marchers didn't start until 4 p.m. Thousands upon thousands of people slowly covered the three to four mile-long routes, stopping and going as if in a traffic jam because of their sheer numbers. At half past two,
