Obama-appointed federal judge says Ohio must recognize out-of-state same-sex ‘marriages’

Image
CINCINNATI, OH , April 17, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – On Monday, an Obama-appointed  federal judge ruled  that Ohio authorities must recognize same-sex “marriages” contracted outside the state. Ohio currently bans such unions. Judge Timothy Black additionally called the state’s marriage amendment, passed by a 62 percent majority in 2004, “unconstitutional” and “unenforceable.” However, Black’s decision would not overturn the state’s gay “marriage” ban. Judge Timothy Black Gay “marriage” supporters are hailing Black’s decision as a further step towards legalizing same-sex unions in Ohio.  Civil rights lawyer Al Gerhardstein praised Black’s ruling.  Gerhardstein has filed three gay “marriage” lawsuits in Ohio since June. "This is a great day for many Ohio families," Gerhardstein said. "Yesterday, they lived in a state that discriminated against them; today they live in a state that has declared them equal. Their marriages, the very foundations of their fa

Obama admin requires insurance companies to cover same-sex couples

WASHINGTON, D.C. , March 19, 2014 – Trying to boost enrolment numbers as March 31 approaches, the Obama administration is taking new executive actions, including requiring insurance companies participating in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to cover same-sex couples . Bloomberg   reports  that the administration has ordered same-sex couples to be treated as “families” by insurers participating in the ACA exchanges. Judicial Crisis Network Chief Counsel Carrie Severino says “the move shows Obama administration is not interested in respecting a state's inherent authority in this area. They're simply pursing a political end.”  The administration has made over a dozen changes to the ACA, some of which have been declared illegal by Republicans. Last year, the president said the health care law was “settled,” only weeks before delaying  the application of the individual insurance mandate , and mere months before  delaying  several other components of the law.  Last year,

Homosexual Marriage is not about equality but power

Image
Rainbow flag. Symbol of gay pride. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Same Sex Marriage is not some warm fluffy equality bunny, it's a bare-faced state power grab. The state gets to entirely remake marriage, not as the man/woman/child model we've inherited from 10,000 years of history and across all cultures but as an anything-goes irrelevant partnership agreement between adults. Only a man and a woman have children despite every fantasy the gender-busters want us to believe. Every child has a right to that natural life. Same sex marriage asks us to ignore reality and children's rights to a mother and father. Marriage will be made irrelevant because this re-make says that, for the first time, children and parenthood has no natural place in marriage. If you have children, the kindly, benevolent state will set your relationship with them. If you don't want a gay marriage don't get one? Everyone gets one because, in the eyes of the state, marriage will be about adults, n

Homosexual Marriages Zealots

Image
Same-sex ' marriage ' activists have launched an unprecedented assault on marriage over the past 12 months. And in that time, we've seen some terrible losses for this cherished institution. But the truth is that these radicals targeted the most liberal of states — states like Illinois and Hawaii where the political situation was set up perfectly for them — and they barely eked out some incredibly narrow victories despite pouring tens of millions of dollars into their campaigns. Well, guess what? They've run out of easy targets. There are no remaining states where Democrats control both legislative houses and the governorship, except in West Virginia which is a very socially conservative state. And we have marriage amendments in place in 30 states to preserve marriage. The fight for marriage goes on — but in the coming year, the fight turns to states like Ohio and Indiana — states in which we have a decided advantage! In these states THE PEOPLE will decide at the

Hawaii Democrats ram immoral homosexual marriage against wishes of poplation and huge street protests

Marriage Day (Photo credit: Fikra ) Even though their Hawai legislators betrayed them in Hawaii and Illinois — the people continue to stand up and demand that marriage , religious liberties , and the rights of children be defended! In Hawaii, thousands came to the capital to testify in defense of marriage and religious liberty, and at least ten thousand people rallied outside the capital to let their legislators know, in no uncertain terms, that voters support marriage as the union of one man and one woman. And now, one courageous representative is even challenging the new law in court — demanding that the people have the final say on marriage. There is a silver lining now that Hawaii has voted to redefine marriage against the people's wishes: same-sex 'marriage' activists have run out of easy targets. This was the last state where Democrats held the governorship and both houses of the Legislature — the only type of state where they have been able to prevail by l

Judge orders Ohio to recognize out-of-state gay ‘marriage’ despite state’s marriage amendment

CINCINNATI, July 23, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – A U.S. district judge has ordered a clerk in the state of Ohio to recognize a same-sex “marriage” conducted in another state, because the state's constitutional amendment defining marriages does “likely violate the U.S. Constitution .” U.S. District Magistrate Timothy Black declared in his opinion on Monday that the “purpose served by” the amendment in “treating same-sex married couples differently than opposite-sex married couples is the same improper purpose that failed in  Windsor  and in  Romer : ‘to impose inequality’ and to make gay citizens unequal under the law.” Judge Timothy Black is an Obama appointee His words echoed last month's  vituperous opinion from U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy  striking down a key provision of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Judge Black ordered a registrar in Cincinnati to affirm the partner of a terminally ill homosexual as his “husband” after their seven-minu

Catholic teachers’ union backs diocese in firing of homosexual teacher

Image
COLUMBUS, May 14, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews ) – The Central Ohio Association of Catholic Educators (COACE) is backing the diocese in its decision to fire a homosexual teacher, according to a letter sent to the teacher. Gym instructor Carla Hale, 57, was  fired  from her job at Bishop Watterson Catholic High School last month after an anonymous parent wrote to the Diocese of Columbus to complain that in an obituary for Hale’s mother, Hale was listed as a surviving family member together with her longtime lesbian partner, Julie. Carla Hale Hale signed a morality clause as part of her contract, affirming that “ Catholic school personnel are expected to be examples of moral behavior and professionalism,” and acknowledging her employment could be terminated for “immorality” or “serious unethical conduct.”  Because the Roman Catholic Church holds homosexual behavior to be gravely immoral, the Diocese of Columbus fired her. Hale filed a grievance with the COACE seeking reinstatem

Conservatives revolt as gay marriage lobbyist chosen to head Ohio Republican Party

Image
COLUMBUS, March 22, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The Republican Party of Ohio has appointed as its executive director a  registered lobbyist  for the group that is actively campaigning to redefine marriage in the state, deepening the conflict between voters and the party elite. The move triggered swift backlash, as a coalition of 80 conservatives from across the state issued a letter warning party bosses they “will not support them” in the future. The new GOP leader is Matt Borges, a lobbyist for Equality Ohio , the group pressing to overturn the state's constitutional amendment against same-sex “marriage.” Borges was  hand-selected  by retiring state GOP chairman Bob Bennett, who has led the party since 1988 with a  brief interregnum , and is seen as Bennett's heir apparent. Bennett retires May 31. The Associated Press describes Borges as the party's  "chairman-in-waiting." “With this letter we put the party bosses on notice that we reject their

North Carolina votes Tuesday on marriage amendment: ‘one man and one woman’

State seal of North Carolina (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) RALEIGH, May 8, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – North Carolina voters are weighing a new state constitutional amendment today that would reserve the rights of marriage to a man and woman in a committed relationship. The bill would not only strike a preemptive blow against same-sex “marriage,” but would further strengthen marriage by ending heterosexual domestic partnerships. Amendment One, which appears on Tuesday’s primary ballot, states: “Marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this State. This section does not prohibit a private party from entering into contracts with another private party; nor does this section prohibit courts from adjudicating the rights of private parties pursuant to such contracts.” A Public Policy Polling survey last week found North Carolina voters supporting the amendment 51-44 percent.  Even Democrats in the state oppose the measure b
