Homosexual Reparative Therapy works

Image
There is a movement to crush those who offer therapy to persons struggling with unwanted same-sex attraction .  What are your thoughts as to why there is such opposition to this kind of therapy? Sciambra:  There is opposition to gay- reparative therapy because [born-this-way gay advocates] know deep-down that it works. Very good reparative therapy excavates the root causes which brought forth homosexual desires in the person. For the most part, these incidents are embedded in early-childhood traumas. When a therapist is able to dig down and reveal these traumas, they no longer have the same power over the person that they once did. At that point, relationships can be mended and new healthy friendships can be fostered.  Related articles WATCH: Right-Wing 'Documentary' Tries to Defend 'Ex-Gay' Therapy (advocate.com) From gay porn star to redeemed brother in Christ (deaconforlife.blogspot.com) Loose your child if taken to homosexual reparative therapy? Gov. Chris Christie: banning parents from helping their children overcome the destructive pull of sinful homosexuality:

Governor of New Jersey at a town hall in Hillsborough, NJ 3/2/11 (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) New Jersey   Gov. Chris Christie  succumbed to homosexual activist propaganda and myths in  signing into law  a bill that bans professional counselors in the Garden State “from attempting to change a minor’s sexual orientation.” LaBarbera made the following points regarding Republican Christie siding with the “Big Gay Government” agenda by banning parents from helping their children overcome the destructive pull of homosexuality: 1) Christie cited the pro-“gay” American Psychological Association  in claiming that efforts to change sexual orientation “can pose critical health risks” to children. But he strangely did not mention the existence of successful, happy  former  homosexuals. Nor did he acknowledge the widely-available data pointing to the myriad health risks associated with homosexual behavior itself – such as the  rising HIV risk  among “young men who have sex with men.”

Shouldn’t same-sex oriented teens be given a chance to change and know the truth?

In 2013 California and New Jersey passed laws that ban licensed mental health providers from offering sexual orientation change efforts ( SOCE ) to minors. Massachusetts, Pennsylvania , Ohio, New York , Minnesota and Maryland are considering similar legislation. Recently, however, this legislation died in the Virginia House, and a stay was imposed in California pending review by the Supreme Court of the United States . To be clear, the present debate concerns banning voluntary (not coerced) SOCE by professionals for minors who are distressed by their unwanted homosexual feelings. Support for this ban is based upon four claims. First, that sexual orientation is a fixed, inborn trait. Secondly, that homosexual attractions experienced during adolescence are enduring. Thirdly, that homosexual behavior carries no increased health risks as compared to heterosexual behavior, and finally, that scientific research proves SOCE is universally harmful. None of these claims, however, is based in s

The Story:  One of the stars of the biggest cable show of all time has been  suspended by the A&E Network following his recent comments on homosexuality . The Background:   In a recent interview with  GQ  magazine , Phil Robertson, the  67-year-old patriarch of the Robertson family, was asked, "What, in your mind, is sinful?" Robertson responded: Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men," he says. Then he paraphrases Corinthians: "Don't be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won't inherit the kingdom of God. Don't deceive yourself. It's not right. [. . .] We never, ever judge someone on who's going to heaven, hell. That's the Almighty's job. We just love 'em, give 'em the good news about

Pro-abortion Congresswoman introduces resolution urging states to ban sexual orientation therapy

WASHINGTON, DC, December 19, 2013  - A U.S. congresswoman has reintroduced a resolution urging states to ban therapies designed to help young people overcome unwanted same-sex attraction . Rep. Jackie Speier , D- CA , called sexual reorientation therapy "quackery" and said her “Stop Harming Our Kids” resolution was a bid to encourage states to introduce laws similar to ones passed in California and New Jersey , which ban conversion therapy for minors. Jackie Speier wants to ban sexual orientation therapy nationwide “These practices have been rejected by every mainstream mental health association as neither safe nor effective," Speier stated in a  press release  announcing the resolution. "These efforts frequently increase family rejection,” Speier claimed, “which we know make LGBT youth 8.4 times more likely than straight youth to report attempting suicide, 5.9 times more likely to report high levels of depression, and 3.4 times more likely to use ill

‘Dangerous,’ ‘ludicrous’: PA bill would force Catholic schools to employ teachers in gay ‘marriages’

Image
HARRISBURG, PA, December 17, 2013 – A Pennsylvania lawmaker has proposed a bill that would forbid Catholic schools from enforcing the Catholic church's teachings on homosexuality in parochial schools, a measure its critics are calling “ludicrous” and “dangerous to basic human freedoms.” The bill gained new life after  Holy Ghost Preparatory School in the Philadelphia suburb of Bensalem fired Michael Griffin , who taught French and Italian. Griffin lives in  New Jersey, where a county superior court judge legalized same-sex “marriage”  in September, a decision that stood after Republican Governor  Chris Christie dropped his appeal . After the ruling, Griffin and his homosexual partner contracted a same-sex “marriage.” State Sen. Daylin Leach , D-Montgomery Headmaster and school President Father James McCloskey noted that Griffin's contract “requires all faculty and staff to follow the teachings of the Church as a condition of their employment.” The Catholic Churc

New Jersey Senate pulls bill codifying same-sex “marriage”

The New Jersey Senate has pulled a bill that would legislate same-sex "marriage" in the state. Political leaders cited advice from national same-sex "marriage" advocacy organization Lambda Legal , and said they plan to resume their efforts in the 2014-2015 legislative session. New Jersey Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg  said she decided not to pursue S. 3109 on Tuesday because Lambda Legal said the judicial decision that allowed same-sex “marriage” licenses to be given was satisfactory. Some Democrats in the state Senate, including Weinberg,  had expressed concerns  that the September 27 Superior Court decision failed to respect religious freedom. Mercer County Superior Court Judge Mary Jacobson found same-sex "marriage" to be a constitutional right, and when the state Supreme Court strongly indicated it would allow homosexuals to receive marriage licenses, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie backed off from his previous strong efforts in fa

Gay teacher fired by Catholic school after announcing intention to ‘marry’ partner

PHILADELPHIA, PA , December 9, 2013 – A homosexual teacher has been fired from Holy Ghost Preparatory School for trying to “ marry ” his partner of 12 years. The school's headmaster has  said  the teacher's decision to get a marriage license “contradicts the terms of his teaching contract.”  Michael Griffin, who graduated from Holy Ghost and taught French and Italian, says the school fired him after he sent  an e-mail  telling administrators “he was going to file for a marriage license and would be slightly late to work.”  Michael Griffin Facebook According to a statement from headmaster and school president Father James McCloskey, Griffin's contract “requires all faculty and staff to follow the teachings of the Church as a condition of their employment.” McCloskey says Griffin “acknowledged that he was aware of this provision, yet he said that he intended to go ahead with the ceremony.”  Griffin says he wears a wedding ring to work, and has been in a civi

Immutable ideology: Teens and same-sex attraction

November 27, 2013 ( BreakPoint ) - A fifteen-year-old New Jersey boy, identified in court records as “ John Doe ,” has struggled with unwanted same-sex attraction since he was ten. Two years ago, at his urging, his family took him to see a therapist in New York who specialized in what court documents refer to as “ Sexual Orientation Change Efforts .” According to John Doe, the therapy has helped him. In his words, “every day would get a little better.” We know this because his family is challenging a New Jersey law that, like a similar law in California , “ban[s] licensed counselors from engaging in talk therapies that reduce the level of same-sex attractions in minors for whom such reduction is a personal goal.” As we’ve previously pointed out here on BreakPoint, not only is so-called “reparative therapy” controversial, its efficacy remains unproven. While there are people who have successively made the transition from same-sex relationships to heterosexual ones, there are
