September 30, 2011  - The Canadian National Post , which until the advent of SUN news network was thought to be the most conservative national mainstream media outlet in the country, has shocked conservatives by apologizing for running a  pro-family advertisement . Moreover, the National Post says it will be donating the thousands of dollars paid for the ad by the pro-family group to a homosexual activist group . The ad, sponsored by the Institute for Christian Values, depicted a large picture of a little girl with the header, “Please! Don’t confuse me.”  Below the photo, the youngster said, “I’m a girl. Don’t teach me to question if I’m a boy, transsexual, transgendered, intersexed or two spirited .” The ad specifically addressed the Toronto District School Board ’s policy  of forbidding parents to opt out of its pro-homosexual curriculum. In its  published apology , the National Post editors wrote: “The fact that we will not be publishing this ad again represents a recognition on

Glenn Close: people who value gender differences will have to ‘die off’

Image via Wikipedia Discussing her gender-bending role in the new movie  Albert Nobbs , American actress Glenn Close has said that gender “doesn’t matter” and all those too outdated to reject natural gender and gender roles will just have to “die off.” Albert Nobbs, screened at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival , features Close as a cross-dressing woman working as a butler in 19th-century Ireland . The idea behind the film, a pet project of Close’s for fifteen years, is to help scuttle conventional ideas of gender - or any idea of gender. “Gender is irrelevant. It basically should be irrelevant,” Close told the National Post . The actress says she hopes her performance as a woman passing as a convincing-looking man “engenders a lot of conversation, because I believe there are a lot of people who put on faces.” “I am not gay … but I feel very comfortable in the company of everybody, not just gay people. But I honestly believe that gay rights of [sic] the rights of peop

Catholic schools’ approach to homosexuality at odds with bishops’ statement: concerned parents

Image via Wikipedia Catholics parents are concerned that the pastoral approach to homosexuality advocated by the Ontario bishops’ curriculum arm is at loggerheads with the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops ’ recent strongly-worded letter on ministering to youth with same-sex attractions. The CCCB warned in a pastoral letter June 27th that misrepresentation and silence about the Church’s teaching in this area can have serious consequences for youth.   “Avoidance of difficult questions or watering down the Church’s teaching is always a disservice,” the letter said.  “Such attitudes could lead young people into grave moral danger.” As head of ICE, Sr. Cronin exercises considerable influence in the Ontario Catholic educational system .  Her group oversees development of Catholic curriculum, including the Fully Alive family life program. They also worked with the Ontario government in developing the controversial equity and inclusive education strategy. Lobo pointed out that

Where’s the ‘pride’ when you bully someone to march in your gay parade?

Image
Image via Wikipedia Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has been slammed in the city’s media all week for his decision not to attend Sunday’s annual Pride parade and the related events. “My family comes first,” says Ford, explaining that they have a 30-year tradition of spending Canada Day weekend at their cottage in Huntsville.   “I’m carrying on a tradition my father had, last year I was there during the campaign, we’re there every year.” For the last week, there has been an unending slew of news articles, columns, and editorials in media such as the Toronto Star and Globe and Mail , all seemingly aimed at pressuring Ford to back down and show up for the parade. This morning, the Toronto Star reports that NOW Magazine has even offered to pay $4,000 for a private jet to fly him in for the parade and then back to the cottage.  “C’mon, Rob, there really is no excuse,” writes NOW editor Michael Hollett . But my question is: Why  should  he go? He has a perfectly sensible reason not to atten

Man fined unjustly for homophobic comments

Image via Wikipedia A Montreal man has been ordered to pay $12,000 to his homosexual neighbors for allegedly directing “ homophobic ” remarks at them, by the Quebec Human Rights Tribunal. The homosexual couple has a history of pursuing lawsuits and complaints against neighbors. Theo Wouters and Roger Thibault had accused Gordon Lusk of calling them “faggots” during a June 2006 incident involving Mr. Lusk’s son. Lusk, a retired lieutenant colonel in the Canadian military , was acquitted of charges of “homophobic comments,” death threats and threatening assault in a provincial court over the incident involving the two homosexuals who were alleged to have driven recklessly down their street, endangering the lives of children, including Mr. Lusk’s son, who were playing road hockey. A witness of the incident testified at the court of law hearing that Thibault had run a stop sign and almost hit one of the children. The same witness testified that in an earlier incident Thibault had ru
