Chick-fil-A has made ‘no such concessions’ to the gay agenda: Dan Cathy denies media reports

Image
CHICAGO, – After a Chicago alderman  claimed last week  that Chick-fil-A had agreed not to fund pro-family organizations, the fast food chain’s president Dan Cathy has set the record straight. “Chick-fil-A made no such concessions, and we remain true to who we are and who we have been,” he said in a statement posted on Mike Huckabee ’s website on Friday. Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy. Last week, First Ward Alderman Proco “Joe” Moreno, who has been opposing Chick-fil-A’s attempts to open a franchise because of Cathy’s traditional marriage views,  claimed  that the Christian business had agreed that its philanthropy arm, the WinShape Foundation, would no longer support organizations that oppose redefining marriage. The news was widely reported in the mainstream media as a major “victory” for the pro-homosexual movement. However, the pro-family organization  MassResistance  told LifeSiteNews.com in an e-mail that a spokeswoman for the fast food chain specifically said th

Homosexual Wars and Christian Chickens

Logo for the 2006 Chick-fil-A Bowl (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Today is Chick-Fil-A appreciation day . Organized by Mike Huckabee (former Governor of Arkansas), the event is intended to show public support and appreciation for the restaurant chain’s founder, who has been vilified because of his support for the institution of marriage. On Facebook, nearly 4 million people have been invited to participate in this day, a small indication that the event has resonated with the Christian community [Edit: we have readers in over 200 countries, only one of which has Chick-Fil-A; if you want to figure out what this debate is all about, check out Al Mohler here ]. The hullabaloo concerning chicken sandwiches is simply one manifestation of the larger culture war being waged over the redefinition of marriage . If marriage is a word, how is that word defined? By common usage, history, or popular vote? Using any of those three definitions, it would exclusively include heterosexual relationshi

Did Facebook® Boycott Chick-fil-A®?

Image
Image via CrunchBase You've likely heard that Chick-fil-A ®  has come under fire for supporting traditional marriage and the biblical understanding of the family .  But now it appears that the social media giant, Facebook ® , temporarily censored a grassroots effort to applaud and support the family-run business . What's this all about? Former Arkansas governor -turned-talk-show-host Mike Huckabee floated the idea of organizing a "Chick-fil-A ®  Appreciation Day" for August 1 st . He talked about it on his FOX News TV show last Sunday, launched a  Facebook® page  to promote it and by the following Tuesday morning had gathered over 100,000 supporters declaring their agreement with the concept.  By late Tuesday morning, however, the page was gone. It seems Facebook ®  had removed it. After several news outlets pushed for an explanation, including Focus on the Family's  Citizenlink ® , the page suddenly reappeared last Wednesday. Shortly after, a Facebook ® of

Is it un-American to be a Christian?

Official portrait of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Chick-fil-A (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) The current hate campaign being waged by homosexual activists against fast food chain Chick-fil-A , because of the firm’s Christian values , may well turn out to be a bridge too far. The effort may prove to be a setback for homosexual activism. The vile attacks on the firm and its owners, the Cathy family, should make clear, finally, that the “gay rights” movement is not about refining and advancing American freedom, but about rewriting American values and advancing, not freedom, but the homosexual political agenda. Recently Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton spoke at a flag raising ceremony in Alexandria, Egypt , noting the re-opening of the American consulate there. Given the current political climate in Egypt, the Secretary of State felt behooved in her remarks to highlight principles of freedom as understood by Americans. “... to us,

Jim Henson withholding Muppets toys from Chick-fil-A over pro-family stance

Washington DC , July 24th, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - The Jim Henson Company is withholding their Muppets children’s toys from Dan Cathy, President and Chief Operating Officer at Chick-fil-A , after the President pleaded “guilty as charged” to having a traditional pro-family stance.  Last Friday, The Jim Henson Company said via Facebook , “The Jim Henson Company has celebrated and embraced diversity and inclusiveness for over fifty years and we have notified Chick-Fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors.” The statement also said that Henson’s current CEO, Lisa Henson , “is personally a strong supporter of gay marriage and has directed us to donate the payment we received from Chick-Fil-A to GLAAD” ( Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation ).  The Jim Henson Company manufactured Muppet toys for the fast-food chain’s kid’s meals.  Dan Cathy stated in a  2011 interview  with the Atlantic Journal-Constitution (AJC) that his “company i

Reformed Leader against Gay Marriage

Image via Wikipedia I have just finished reading an article from the notoriously left-wing magazine  Newsweek . In the cover story, “The Religious Case for Gay Marriage,” author Lisa Miller argues the case for gay “ marriage ” using the Bible as her authority.  Miller opens with this line: “Let’s try for a minute to take the religious conservatives at their word and define marriage as the Bible does.” She later asserts, “The Bible gives us no good reason to oppose gay marriage.”  It takes no brains but a lot of guts to try to make a case for gay “marriage” (of course, the phrase itself is a contradiction in terms). But it’s just downright crazy to try to make a case for the legitimacy of gay “marriage” using the Bible.   I was recently at an event with Mike Huckabee as the keynote speaker , and I was delighted when the former governor quoted from the book of Judges : “In those days there was no king in Israel . Everyone did what was right in his own eyes” ( Judg. 17:6 ).  This r
