Senator Ruben Diaz challenges Mayor Bloomberg bribes

Image
With word at the Capitol being that same-sex marriage legislation may be on hold until next week, state Sen. Ruben Diaz, Sr. -- one of the measure's most vocal opponents -- is going after Mayor Bloomberg for supporting the bill. State Senate GOP Majority Leader Dean Skelos just said there is no decision to bring gay marriage out for a vote, our Glenn Blain told me.  Skelos said they were still deliberating the religious exemption issue and working on changes to the bill.  Staffs will continue to work on the issue during the weekend but since Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver will be observing the Sabbath, not much official can be done until Sunday. Meanwhile, the Rev. Diaz,  who's taken plenty of heat from gay rights activists for his opposition to letting gays wed in New York , is calling out Bloomberg for hypocrisy. "Bloomberg has been spending a lot of time and money in Albany to show how much he wants New York’s marriage laws redefined.  If we want to document the

Bloomberg attempts to defend Gay bribe money

Mayor Bloomberg said today he "owes it to his children" to support elected officials who stand up and "do the right thing" --  even if their actions have repercussions at the voting booth. Bloomberg spoke to the press corps, including our Erin Einhorn, following the opening of a new East River esplanade at Wall Street -- and following reports that Hizzoner cut sizable checks  to the four GOP state senators who put same-sex marriage legislation over the top. The mayor declined to answer a question about any other candidates he may be supporting soon but did spell out his contribution philosophy. Here’s the exchange, per Einhorn: Q: I know you made some contributions to Republican senators who voted the way you wanted on gay marriage. Are there any other… A: They didn’t vote the way I wanted. They voted the right way. They voted the way for freedom, for democracy, for equality, and I think we should all support that. Q: Are there any other candidates – city or fed

Democrats See Republican Hand In Gay Marriage Stumbles

Image
Image via Wikipedia Gay marriage advocates hope to regain their momentum in Albany this week after a series of hard knocks, but some of their allies have begun to wonder whether the string of bad news was more than just coincidence. They are looking for signs of a coordinated effort behind their recent setbacks, which have seemingly trimmed the chances that any Republican senators might break ranks and join with Democrats to pass a same-sex marriage bill before the session ends June 20. Mark Grisanti and Andrew Lanza — Republican senators considered potential swing votes — said last week they remain opposed. Brooklyn GOP Senator Marty Golden introduced an anti- gay-marriage bill just two days after his ally, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, trekked to Albany to lobby for Republican support for marriage. And Conservative Party Chairman Michael Long said opposing gay marriage will be a litmus test for the party’s endorsement in 2012. “This is not a coincidence. This is the Senate Republican

Bloomberg & Cuomo receive Gay marriage bribes

Image via Wikipedia The four New York Republicans who changed their votes to swing the New York Senate in favor of gay “marriage” all received hefty donations from New York city Mayor Michael Bloomberg , according to campaign finance records filed last week. State Senator Mark Grisanti was the first of the four to file his report last Wednesday, reporting a $10,300 contribution from Bloomberg.  The donation was dated July 8th – two weeks after the Senate voted to redefine marriage in New York state. The Democratic mayor has long been an active supporter of gay “marriage,” and plans to officiate at the “wedding” of chief policy advisor John Feinblatt and his male partner on July 24th, the day the new law goes into effect. According to a City Hall News  report , Bloomberg had promised before the Senate vote to financially support any Republican who voted in favor of gay “marriage.” The other three Republicans, Senators Roy McDonald, Stephen Saland , and James Alesi , all reporte

New York Gay Marriage Lottery Day of Shame

Image
Image via Wikipedia New York leads the way to shame this Sunday. The city's decision to hold a marriage lottery for gay couples comes ahead of the entry into force on Sunday of New York state 's gay marriage law, which was passed on June 24. Mayor Michael Bloomberg , council speaker Christine Quinn and city clerk Michael McSweeney said in a joint statement that the lottery would be implemented "due to high demand for marriage services on Sunday, July 24, 2011". New York City officials have received 1,728 requests for marriage services on Sunday, from same-sex couples .  "The lottery will guarantee access to one of the City Clerk 's five offices for 764 couples - opposite sex or same sex - on July 24," the statement said, noting that the number of weddings that day could be four times the previous city record. "We are going to make history on Sunday, with the eyes of the nation once again turning to New York City," Mr Bloomberg said.  Bloo

Andrew Cuomo support decadent immorality

Image
Image via Wikipedia New York is obviously one of the most socially liberal states in the Union . There are, to be sure, many New Yorkers who reject sexual-liberationist ideology and believe in true marriage, which is why pro-marriage forces in the state were able to put up quite a fight, but they are not well-represented in the elite sector of society and at the moment they lack the powerful political leadership one finds on the other side.  There is no Chris Christie at the helm in New York. Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Michael Bloomberg , the state’s two most powerful and influential politicians, plainly buy much, if not all, of the ideology of sexual liberalism and publicly lead their lives in accordance with it. Although they claim to be supporters of marriage who merely want to “expand” the institution (or expand “access” to the institution) out of respect for what they regard as the civil rights of people to have their romantic partnerships (whatever their shape) recognized

Gay columnist: let’s face it, we want to indoctrinate children

Image via Wikipedia As the same-sex “marriage” battle heats up again in New York, one writer at a prominent gay news source is questioning why his lobby refuses to admit that the gay agenda involves “ indoctrinating ” schoolchildren to accept homosexuality . Queerty contributor Daniel Villarreal   criticized  (WARNING site contains inappropriate images) the homosexual movement’s knee-jerk reaction against accusations of meddling in public schools.  Villarreal pointed to a recent National Organization for Marriage (NOM) ad launched in New York that points out how homosexual indoctrination has been introduced in Massachusetts and California schools. Two of the books designed to teach children about homosexuality in a positive light. While gay activists usually deny that they want to indoctrinate children, said  Villarreal, “let’s face it—that’s a lie.” “We want educators to teach future generations of children to accept queer sexuality. In fact, our very future depends on it,”
