Family researcher: The evidence is clear that opposite-sex parents have better parenting outcomes

Image
A Catholic University of America marriage researcher says that while same-sex couples can be loving, caring parents -- they are different "by definition." In a presentation at the Values Voters Summit , Dr. Paul Sullins - a Catholic priest - told dozens of attendees that his recent large-scale study of parenting styles showed that children who are raised by both of their biological parents are least likely to have emotional issues. And since it is impossible for children raised by same-sex sexual couples to have both biological parents raising them, changing the legal definition of marriage won't help America's children. "I don't have any evidence that two persons of the same sex are any less loving or caring, or extend themselves any less in lots of ways for their children than do two parents of the opposite sex," said Sullins. "...[H]owever, if for whatever reason, the greatest benefits for child well-being come only from when they are the bi

Another Kentucky Clerk Joins Kim Davis in Refusing To Issue Same-sex 'Marriage' Licenses

Image
A third elected county clerk in Kentucky has joined Kim Davis in refusing to violate her conscience and the constitution of the state of Kentucky by issuing 'marriage' licenses to same-sex couples . According to media reports , Whitley County Clerk Kay Schwartz will not issue same-sex marriage licenses which are illegal under Kentucky law. The ACLU is considering a lawsuit to attempt to force her to issue the licenses even though doing so violates both her conscience and the state constitution. Whitley County clerk says she is issuing marriage licenses, but not to same-sex couples WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. ( WYMT ) - Kentucky has become a focal point in the debate over same-sex marriage, after Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis refused to issue marriage licenses following the June supreme court ruling legalizing gay marriage nationwide. Casey County Clerk Casey Davis and Whitley County Clerk Kay Schwartz also stopped issuing marriage licenses because of their religious oppositio

Pope Francis: Refusing to sign gay ‘marriage’ licenses is a human right

Image
Pope Francis gave clear approval of   Kim Davis’ stance   against issuing homosexual “marriage” licenses as he traveled back to Rome Monday, calling it a “ human right ” for government officials to   refuse to conduct a duty   that violates their conscience. On the flight home from his first visit to the U.S., the pope was asked whether he supported individuals, including government officials, who decline to obey certain laws, for instance issuing “marriage” licenses to same-sex couples. " Conscientious objection must enter into every juridical structure because it is a right," the Holy Father said in response. Religious liberty has been a   hot-button issue   in recent months in the United States as various   small businesses across the country   have been   targeted with fines , prosecution   and attack on social media for   declining to take part   in homosexual “weddings” based upon their owners’ religious and moral objection. The headlines of late hav

Kim Davis may be the face of the marriage resistance - but she’s not the only clerk fighting

Image
Kim Davis isn't the only county clerk refusing to lend her name as an elected official to the U.S. Supreme Court's edict imposing homosexual "marriage" on the nation. Others are doing so without the media display, being sued, or   ending up in jail . A total of three Kentucky clerks have   refused to issue "marriage" licenses   to same-sex couples, along with nine Alabama counties ,   according   to NBC News . Davis has been made the face of resistance to   judicial tyranny . None of these others has. Davis was   released from jail   Tuesday after being incarcerated on a contempt of court charge last week, for declining based upon her religious beliefs to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Davis contended that putting her name as county clerk on the licenses was synonymous with her giving approval. She had refused to issue licenses to opposite-sex couples as well, so as to not discriminate against anyone. Last Friday, the day

Kim Davis returns to work and pledges again not to sign gay ‘marriage’ licenses

Image
Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis returned to work and read from her handwritten statement just prior to opening the Clerk's office. She began by saying, "I love my Lord Jesus , I love all people, and I love my job. I want to continue to serve all three as I have tried to do until now." During parts of her statement, Kim Davis became emotional, especially when she explained that she had been placed in a position to violate her conscience, which she said she could not do. Kim Davis said that from the beginning she had asked for a reasonable accommodation to remove her name and authoritative title as the Clerk of Rowan County from the marriage licenses , a request that has been ignored or not acted upon by Governor Beshear or the court. She explained that she could not issue a license with her name and title affixed to it that authorizes a marriage that is contrary to God 's definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Because she could not viola

South Africa’s top court wonders: Should churches be allowed to forbid gay ‘marriage’?

Image
South Africa's highest court is poised to uncork a powder keg as it decides whether it has any business second-guessing the country's Methodist Church for firing a pastor in 2010 who announced her same-sex engagement. The surface issue is incendiary enough: were the Methodists unfair to the Rev. Ecclesia de Lange? But far more significantly, if religious freedom means anything at all, shouldn't it mean that churches that consider homosexuality to be against God's law can fire their employees for breaking that law, without having to defend their actions in secular courts? Both sides agree that it is a crucial case. Declared Nadene Badenhorst of Freedom of Religion South Africa (FOR SA): "This is undoubtedly the most important case for religious freedom and the autonomy of the church that has ever come before our courts, and one that could open the door to the courts dictating to the church what she may and may not believe, preach and how she should go

Kim Davis’ lawyer says they actually won at the Sixth Circuit yesterday. Here’s why.

Image
ROWAN COUNTY, A lawyer for embattled clerk Kim Davis says his client has won -- despite a decision against her yesterday. Liberty Counsel 's Mat Staver says that while the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals denied Davis' injunction request against Gov. Steve Beshear 's order that clerks hand out gay “marriage” licenses, that was only a preliminary decision and one that is "rarely granted." In a partial victory for Davis, "the court also denied the governor's request to [have the case] be dismissed," Staver told LifeSiteNews. No matter how the Sixth Circuit Court definitively rules, however, Davis -- who spent five days in jail   for contempt of court   -- has already won because "she does not have her name and title affixed to the marriage certificates ," explained Staver.   Davis and her attorneys will now open a new fight for religious liberty , this one inside the state of Kentucky . Staver argues that the state is "requ

Immoral illegitimate Supreme Court

Image
It's been a week since Kim Davis went back to work pledging to continue to fight for her religious liberty rights and not be forced to issue 'marriage' licenses to same-sex couples that include her name or are issued under her authority. In fact, she had the license forms issued by her office going forward be reprinted to remove her name and include a reference that they were being issued by deputies by order of the federal court. She firmly believes that the licenses issued to gay couples under order of federal judge David Bunning are invalid because she has specifically refused to grant her authority to deputies for them to be issued. Meanwhile, liberal politicians like Governor Steve Beshear and Attorney General Jack Conway — both of whom so readily abandoned the 75% of Kentucky voters who passed a constitutional amendment reserving marriage solely to one man and one woman — have quickly weighed in that the disputed licenses are valid. Of course their views are

Kim Davis accused of invalidating marriage licenses for same-sex couples

Image
The county clerk who threatened to challenge Kim Davis's stance against participating in licensing homosexual "marriage" has accused her of invalidating her office's marriage license forms in violation of a court order . Rowan County Deputy Clerk Brian Mason 's lawyer told a federal judge Friday that Davis is trying to sidestep the court's order that she not interfere with the issuing of marriage licenses to same-sex couples by amending the forms and apparently making them invalid. "Mr. Mason's concern is he does not want to be the party that is issuing invalid marriage licenses and he is trying to follow the court's mandate as well as his superior ordering him to issue only these changed forms," Richard Hughes said in a CNN report . It is the latest turn in a contentious case hinging on the Supreme Court's June 29 imposition of homosexual "marriage" on all 50 states, and the religious freedom battle brought to the fore

‘It is a Heaven or Hell decision’: Why a Kentucky clerk won’t back down on marriage licenses

(Photo credit: Wikipedia ) ROWAN COUNTY, KY ,  -- Kim Davis , the embattled Christian county clerk, says that she has "no animosity toward anyone and harbor[s] no ill will" -- but nor will she violate "marriage and God's Word." In a statement released by Liberty Counsel , Davis -- who has appealed a lower court decision requiring her to give marriage licenses to gay couples --  said that to provide the licenses would be "to violate a central teaching of Scripture and of Jesus Himself regarding marriage." "To issue a marriage license which conflicts with God’s definition of marriage , with my name affixed to the certificate, would violate my conscience," she said. "It is not a light issue for me. It is a Heaven or Hell decision. For me it is a decision of obedience. I have no animosity toward anyone and harbor no ill will." Two p
