Australia: One MP spoke out against homosexual marriage

Image
Some would suggest that opposition to same-sex marriage revolved around morality. But I’ve got to say that, for many people around this country who voted no, that wasn’t the issue. The issue for them was freedom. The issue for me was about freedom and the protection of freedoms in this country if we have a change to the law such as this. It’s not about morality for me or for most other people. I’ve never pretended to be a paragon of virtue. I’m a Christian, I’ve fallen short of the mark, like so many other Christians . In my past, I lived, unmarried, with a girl for many years. So I’m not going to get up on my high horse and moralise to other people. I’ve been to wild bucks parties; I’ve been out on nights with uni mates, to places where good Christians shouldn’t go—I’ve done all of that. So I’m not going to get up and lecture other people. I haven’t lived a saintly life. The saint I come closest to is Augustine, who had a great prayer: ‘O Lord, grant me chastity—but not yet.’ So

Feelings not scripture cause Catholic to support immoral homosexual behaviour

Image
Below is an article that was released today with an MP explaining why he is  supporting immoral homosexual marriage . Andrew Wallace was shocked when his daughter told him she was with another woman. "I couldn't believe it was happening to us," he said. "We go to church every Sunday, it was certainly a real shock, I couldn't believe it." The Queensland Liberal MP and his wife Leonie are practising Catholics who struggled to support same-sex marriage. "Leonie and I were both upset. It went against what our traditional beliefs were and what we had been raised to believe in the Catholic Church ," he told AM. "But we understood this was a time not for ostracising her, but a time to throw our arms around her and shower her with love and give her all the support she needed." Caroline is now 22, but at the age of 10 she was diagnosed with anorexia and bulimia. She struggled with the disorders for a number of years and doctors warned Mr Wa

Australian PM should now be sacked - lied to 5 million Australian religious protections

Image
John Howard has debunked Malcolm Turnbull’s argument that religious freedoms will lead to sharia law in Australia and declared he fears the fight for protections in the same-sex marriage debate will “die in the sand”. PM TURNBULL SHOULD BE SACKED The former prime minister John Howard , who campaigned for religious freedoms and parental rights during the same-sex-marriage postal survey, yesterday said the argument that extra religious freedoms could mean the establishment of Islamic law in Australia was a disgraceful fear campaign that was not true. PM TURNBULL HAS NO INTENTION OF GIVING ANY RELIGIONS FREEDOMS “The argument that religious freedoms will lead to the imposition of sharia law is just plain wrong and is a disgraceful appeal to community fears,” Mr Howard said. “ Sharia law cannot be introduced without state government approval and that is simply not going to happen. Anyone practising some of the punishments of sharia law would be committing a crime.” Th

Julia Baird - Christians are Pharisees when not supporting Homosexual marriage

Image
Most things written by ABC journalist and Fairfax columnist Julia Baird are thoughtful and compelling. Most. She is an important voice - and a Christian one, at that - in this country. Yet by definition she is a progressive Christian. Progressive Christians tend to be more cultural non-Bible believing people. But she is mistaken in her recent claim that the strong Yes vote in the same-sex marriage postal vote should be interpreted as "a triumph for the grassroots sitting in the church pews" against the " Pharisees and publicly pious Church leaders." Baird offers here the mirror-image of the once-popular Christian " moral majority " argument, presenting one's preferences as the "true" intent of Jesus and the "real" opinion of most sincere believers. Hers, however, is a "progressive majority" argument. And it is pitched, of course, against the judgemental, pharisaic leaders of the church - like me, I suppose. Bu

Should Christian retreat or engage?

Image
Without question, Christians face a new reality in post-Homosexual Marriage Turnbull Australia . This PM who has promoted and approved of homosexual sin falls under the condemnation of Romans 1:32.  Now Christians are wondering how to move forward. They hear some leaders counseling retreat and disengagement from the culture. Send back your marriage license and paperwork, marry only according to Church law and refuse to deal with the Governments new Marriage Act of 2018.  Christians hear other leaders say that we need to engage the  culture war . To fight back with solid arguments, form a new coalition or political party.  Neither option really captures what  Jesus  taught us about our enduring relationship with the world.   John 17  records the words of Jesus' prayer just before He was handed over to be crucified. His prayer focused not only on the eleven remaining disciples, but also on all those who would believe in Him through His disciples' testimony.  In sho

Protecting religious freedom after “Yes”

Image
Outrage has erupted in the press and in Parliament over the Exposure Draft of a Bill designed to implement a possible “Yes” vote in the same-sex marriage survey. Senator James Paterson, a Liberal Party member who personally supports same sex marriage, has released a Draft  Marriage Amendment (Definition and Protection of Freedoms) Bill  2017 designed to effect this change, but also to provide protection for the religious freedom of those whose faith will not allow them to approve it. But the Bill has been excoriated as “legalising homophobic discrimination” (Senator Hinch, in a question to the Attorney-General ,  Senate Hansard , 14 Nov 2017, p 21 of  draft proceedings ), and as a “licence to discriminate” (Senator Wong, as  reported  by the ABC .) I think these are outrageous over-statements, and misrepresent the nature of the Bill. I don’t agree with every line of the Paterson Bill, but I think it is a perfectly reasonable attempt to provide an appropriate balance of the r

Homosexual Marriage - two things cant be true at the same time

Image
TRUTH IS REPLACED BY RIGHTS AND HURT FEELINGS The kids are okay. Shut up. That’s the message from the same-sex marriage movement . To argue for the right of children to be able to know the love and nurture, wherever possible, of their mother and father is simply bigotry, hatred and ignorance. That is what we are being told now before the law is changed. I wonder what will happen if we lose the plebiscite. Will advocating for mother and fathering of children, wherever possible, become hate speech? I’m worried about this. The same-sex marriage movement is also worried that our concern for children’s rights might lose them votes. Yesterday the Medical Journal of Australia published an article which reported on a survey of research which claims that family structure is irrelevant to the raising of a child. That it is possible for two men or two women to love a child and produce positive outcomes for that child is not in dispute. But the idea that the “no difference” case is closed is

Australia: Homosexual Marriage and the gay agenda in schools

Image
More Australian mums and dads need to  see this new ad  which reveals just how unsafe the so-called ‘Safe Schools’ program is for kids. While this ad has a MA15+ rating because of the content, this is the same material being taught to our 12-year-olds at school.  How is this “safe” for our kids to learn at school but rated too explicit to watch it at home? Let’s stand up for marriage, and for parents’ right to say “NO” to radical gay sex education in our schools. Please give today to get this message out   through TV ads and social media, and to equip your Coalition for Marriage Freedom Team volunteers.  You and I need to stay strong in this campaign to defend marriage and children … right to the finish!

Faith protections doomed under YES to Homosexual Marriage

Image
John Howard is warning that broad protections for religious freedoms are unlikely to pass the Senate if the Yes vote wins, following Labor’s decision to back a same-sex marriage bill proposed by West Australian Liberal senator Dean Smith . The former prime minister — a key campaigner against gay marriage — argued the decision by Labor to lock in behind Senator Smith’s bill was an “added reason” for Australians to vote No in the $122 million postal survey. Mr Howard told The Australian the protections offered in Senator Smith’s bill provided only the “bare minimum” in terms of religious protections, saying a Yes outcome could force faith-based schools, charities and social-service providers to close or change the way they operate. “My position has been clear all along that I think the government should have spelt out what it had in mind,” Mr Howard said. “If the government continues to take the stance they’ll just facilitate a private member’s bill, it’s difficult to see a private
