Obama praises gay lobby’s strategy for winning over pro-marriage Americans

Image
President Obama told 500 young leaders in London on Saturday that gay activists have been so successful at convincing Americans to accept the redefinition of marriage by saying that same-sex “marriage” promoted "family values" and "stability and commitment and partnership." At a town hall event, the president described the gay "marriage" movement as "the fastest set of changes in terms of the social movement" he has ever seen. He chalked this success up to the way LGBT activists framed the issue so as to win the minds and hearts of Americans. “I thought there was a lot of smarts in reaching out and building and framing the issue in a way that could bring in people who initially didn’t agree with them,” Obama remarked. The leader of the free world added that his two daughters, Malia, 17, and Sasha, 14, "had an impact on me" in changing from supporting civil unions to overt support for gay “marriage.” "My notion was

UK students oust reps for gay men from LGBT societies: aren’t ‘oppressed’ enough

Cracks in LGBT unity emerged at a national conference in the United Kingdom , where lesbian, transgender, and gay university students from racial minorities charged male, white homosexuals with sexism and worse, recommending they lose their automatic seats on the councils of the movement. The annual conference of the National Union of Students LGBT+ wing exposed apparently deep-seated resentments of male, white homosexuals and their dominant place within the movement, reported  PinkNews , passing a motion that denounced them for their sins and calling on local university branches of the organization to remove their automatic seats on LGBT+ governing bodies. “ Gay men do not face oppression as gay men within the LGBT+ community and do not need a reserved place on society committees.” The wordy preamble to the same motion stated, in part, that “Misogyny, transphobia, racism and biphobia are often present in LGBT+ societies. This is unfortunately more likely to occur when th

Gay man sues IRS for $36k tax deduction for cost of IVF, surrogate: IRS rejects

Image
Is the procreative impossibility of homosexual activity the same as heterosexuals being biologically infertile?  Stetson University law professor Joseph Morrissey is suing for a tax deduction of $36,538 for in vitro fertilization treatments and the cost of a surrogate to carry twin boys for himself and his male partner. In denying Morrissey's claim, the IRS explained that for tax deductions, the medical services must be provided to the taxpayer, his spouse, or his dependent. Therefore, a surrogate does not qualify, and neither does IVF for someone other than the filer, his spouse, or his dependent. What Morrissey is focusing on, however, is the words of the IRS agent who turned down his IVF tax deduction. The IRS agent noted that Morrissey's sexual orientation is a "choice." Morrissey's lawsuit states, "Despite the IRS's backward and archaic thinking, plaintiff is not homosexual by 'choice.'" Morrissey claims that the pro

Kentucky clerks slammed as ‘Jim Crow’ for differentiating marriage licenses - choice VS race?

Image
A leading LGBT website is bashing Kentucky clerks for wanting to differentiate between same-sex and opposite-sex couples when issuing marriage licenses. Earlier this week, the investigative website MuckRock.com   published more than 400 e-mails   from embattled Kentucky clerk Kim Davis . Those e-mails showed that 54 of the state's 93 clerks preferred to have separate marriage licenses for same-sex and opposite-sex couples. "' Separate but equal ,' the same old Jim Crow argument that was used to defend 'whites only' lunch counters and segregated schools, has resurfaced," wrote Contributing Editor Jean Esselink for The New Civil Rights Movement (TNCRM). "The words may be different but the underlying concept is the same, except that this time it's being used by Kentucky county clerks who would like to make marriages by same-sex couples separate but equal to marriages by heterosexuals." Homosexuality is a choice - race is not. Ho

Same-sex marriage: what's the deal?

Image
Adam and Eve (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Someone accused me on Facebook recently of "being quiet" on the issue of same-sex marriage. While that's not been the case, I have chosen not to engage in the vitriolic rants and raves between Christians and LGBTI people. It appears to me that some Christians are dug down in one trench and some LGBTI people in an opposite trench and they're just shooting at one another. I'd like to declare a ceasefire – shooting at each other is achieving nothing other than causing hatred and anger to be stirred up – and the Christians should stop firing first! I can't see anywhere in the Bible that teaches God sent His Son into the world to raise up a people to be the world's moral police. In fact, He sent His Son for just the opposite of that – to bring peace, forgiveness, salvation, redemption, grace and new beginnings. Firstly, let me clearly state my views on Biblical/Christian marriage. In Matthew 19 some religious lead

Churches could loose insurance - gay marriage

Churches that refuse to perform homosexual “weddings” may be at risk for devastating financial losses in the wake of  Obergefell v. Hodges , because insurance companies refuse to cover them. While the Supreme Court majority gave a nod to religious liberty in its June 26 ruling decreeing homosexual “marriage” a constitutional "right," countless American churches and pastors may be exposed to more financial liability now that the Supreme Court has imposed homosexual “marriage” across the country, David French  wrote  in   National Review . Pastors are reaching out to their insurance companies inquiring whether their liability insurance will cover them should they be sued for refusing to perform a homosexual “marriage,” and so far, the answer is not good. “We have received numerous calls and e-mails regarding the Supreme Court’s ruling on same-sex marriages. The main concern is whether or not liability coverage applies in the event a church gets sued for declining to per

Another cake maker faces thousands in fines for refusing to bake gay ‘marriage’ cake—in Northern Ireland

Image
Once again a Christian baker is threatened with paying thousands of dollars in fines for refusing to bake a cake stating its support for same-sex “marriage” – this time in Northern Ireland . The Equality Commission of Northern Ireland has ordered a Christian bakery to pay compensation to a homosexual activist or face legal action for having refused to make a cake with the phrase “support gay marriage.” Colin and Karen McArthur, a Christian couple who run seven shops around Northern Ireland, own Ashers Baking Company. The name of their cake shops is taken from the Bible: Asher is one of the tribes of Israel known for its skilled bakers. Earlier this year Ashers bakery in Newtonabbey was approached by Gareth Lee of the homosexual advocacy group QueerSpace to make a cake for an event in observance of the " International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia ." Lee asked for a cake decorated with the slogan “support gay marriage,” along with the QueerSpace logo and
