Christian who refused to print ‘Gay Pride’ t-shirts gets support from LGBT business owners

Image
LEXINGTON, Kentucky,– A Christian business owner who was targeted for not printing " Gay Pride " t-shirts is getting support from an unlikely ally: lesbian business owners. "No one should be forced to do something against what they believe in. If we were approached by an organization such as the Westboro Baptist Church , I highly doubt we would be doing business with them, and we would be very angry if we were forced to print anti-gay t-shirts," said Diane DiGeloromo, one of two lesbians who owns BMP T -shirts. "This isn't a gay or straight issue. This is a human issue."   Issued by Becket Fund for Religious Liberty , DiGeloromo's statement was echoed by her business partner, Kathy Trautvetter. "You put your blood and your sweat and your tears into [your business]" and "it's very personal. ... When I put myself in [Mr. Adamson's] shoes, I could see it from his side," said Trautvetter. Kim Davis takes her freedom fight to Sixth Circuit

Image
ROWAN COUNTY, Kentucky , November 3, 2015 -- Kentucky clerk Kim Davis is taking her fight to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals . In a 126-page appeal, Davis and her attorneys with Liberty Counsel asked the Circuit Court to overturn four lower-court decisions. Specifically, they are asking the Court to reverse two injunctions against Davis, as well as grant her an injunction from having to follow the Supreme Court's marriage ruling, and overturn the contempt of court decision   that placed her in jail . Davis became a national figure for religious liberty after refusing to sign same-sex "marriage" certificates. One of her attorneys   told LifeSiteNews that they effectively won the legal fight , but that the fight continues   because LGBT activists won't stop pressing Davis to put her name on "marriage" certificates for same-sex couples . Davis' arguments have relied heavily on the U.S. Constitution , the Kentucky Constitution, and the stat

Homosexual marriage - hatred, bigots and other poor arguments

Image
The campaign to redefine marriage has recently gained such momentum - with now three and soon four bills before the Commonwealth Parliament - that many think it is inevitable. This can leave those with misgivings feeling that they are already losers in a done deal. Some think it is the inexorable progress of liberty and equality - which leaves the doubters on "the wrong side of history." In this context supporters of classical marriage are presumed to have no real arguments to offer. So here I want to offer some reasons - not decrees from on high or from the past, not expressions of hatred or prejudice - but reasons I hope anyone can understand. I also hope these reasons prove persuasive and helpful in proclaiming and witnessing to true marriage among families, friends and colleagues. Regardless, I hope this will help explain why Australian law has always held, and many people still hold, that marriage is for people of opposite sex. I will examine five common slogans i

Kentucky clerks slammed as ‘Jim Crow’ for differentiating marriage licenses - choice VS race?

Image
A leading LGBT website is bashing Kentucky clerks for wanting to differentiate between same-sex and opposite-sex couples when issuing marriage licenses. Earlier this week, the investigative website MuckRock.com   published more than 400 e-mails   from embattled Kentucky clerk Kim Davis . Those e-mails showed that 54 of the state's 93 clerks preferred to have separate marriage licenses for same-sex and opposite-sex couples. "' Separate but equal ,' the same old Jim Crow argument that was used to defend 'whites only' lunch counters and segregated schools, has resurfaced," wrote Contributing Editor Jean Esselink for The New Civil Rights Movement (TNCRM). "The words may be different but the underlying concept is the same, except that this time it's being used by Kentucky county clerks who would like to make marriages by same-sex couples separate but equal to marriages by heterosexuals." Homosexuality is a choice - race is not. Ho

Another Kentucky Clerk Joins Kim Davis in Refusing To Issue Same-sex 'Marriage' Licenses

Image
A third elected county clerk in Kentucky has joined Kim Davis in refusing to violate her conscience and the constitution of the state of Kentucky by issuing 'marriage' licenses to same-sex couples . According to media reports , Whitley County Clerk Kay Schwartz will not issue same-sex marriage licenses which are illegal under Kentucky law. The ACLU is considering a lawsuit to attempt to force her to issue the licenses even though doing so violates both her conscience and the state constitution. Whitley County clerk says she is issuing marriage licenses, but not to same-sex couples WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. ( WYMT ) - Kentucky has become a focal point in the debate over same-sex marriage, after Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis refused to issue marriage licenses following the June supreme court ruling legalizing gay marriage nationwide. Casey County Clerk Casey Davis and Whitley County Clerk Kay Schwartz also stopped issuing marriage licenses because of their religious oppositio

Let people vote against sinful homosexual marriage

Image
A peoples’ vote on marriage is not a ‘cop out’ or something to be feared, Australian Christian Lobby Managing Director Lyle Shelton said today. “Changing the definition of marriage is the biggest social change a society can make with enormous consequences for the rights of children and for freedom of conscience ,” Mr Shelton said. “If motherlessness or fatherlessness is to be institutionalised by law, the people should have a say first. If Australians who support the timeless understanding of marriage are to be considered bigoted under same-sex marriage and associated anti-discrimination laws , then the people should have a say first. It is not for politicians, at the behest of a well-organised lobby, to redefine marriage for all Australians.” Mr Shelton said it would be far more divisive for the nation if politicians redefined marriage without giving the people a say. “Very few issues have had the parliamentary time expended on them as the push for same-sex marriage. It is

Prosecuted florist: ‘This isn’t real to me’

The 72-year-old florist being persecuted by LGBT activists and the state of Washington   told LifeSiteNews that the institutional campaign against her "isn't real to me." "I waited on Rob for years," Barronelle Stutzman said, referring to the gay former customer who sued her for refusing to participate in his "wedding" to a man, shortly after speaking at the American Family Association 's luncheon at the annual Values Voters Summit . "He would come in and pick out unusual and different vases, and he'd just say, 'Just do your thing, this is for Kurt's birthday,' or whatever, and I loved it because I got to get out of the box and make him something special. We had a great relationship. I really miss him." Stutzman said she never expected prosecution from the state, which her attorney later told LifeSiteNews could bankrupt her and cause her to lose her business. "Rob and I had been friends, as I said, for year

Pope Francis: Refusing to sign gay ‘marriage’ licenses is a human right

Image
Pope Francis gave clear approval of   Kim Davis’ stance   against issuing homosexual “marriage” licenses as he traveled back to Rome Monday, calling it a “ human right ” for government officials to   refuse to conduct a duty   that violates their conscience. On the flight home from his first visit to the U.S., the pope was asked whether he supported individuals, including government officials, who decline to obey certain laws, for instance issuing “marriage” licenses to same-sex couples. " Conscientious objection must enter into every juridical structure because it is a right," the Holy Father said in response. Religious liberty has been a   hot-button issue   in recent months in the United States as various   small businesses across the country   have been   targeted with fines , prosecution   and attack on social media for   declining to take part   in homosexual “weddings” based upon their owners’ religious and moral objection. The headlines of late hav
