UK college considers taking down photo of famous alumnus because he opposes gay ‘marriage’

LONDON, UK , February 27, 2015 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) -- King's College in London is considering demands by homosexual activists that a portrait of alumnus Lord Carey , the former Archbishop of Canterbury , be removed from a display of famous former students in its main building because of his opposition to same-sex "marriage." Lord Carey is on record for saying that same-sex relationships should not be "put on the same level" as heterosexual unions, and that re-defining marriage would “strike at the very fabric of society." King's College London Student Union released a  statement  saying it was offended by Lord Carey’s remarks, saying the former archbishop’s view is “outdated, hurtful and offensive.” Colin Hart, campaign director of the UK   Coalition for Marriage , said, “Attempting to airbrush Lord Carey from Kings College’s list of distinguished alumni for his support of traditional marriage smacks of the most appalling form of censorship.&

(Photo credit: Wikipedia ) An Australian soldier who has served three tours of duty in Iraq and who is a Catholic father of six was thrown out of the army by top brass in July for his public opposition to uniformed military participation for the first time in the 2013 Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in Sydney . Major Bernard Gaynor, 35, from Queensland, was terminated in July after going public with his criticism of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) for marching in the event. Like most western militaries, the ADF bars uniformed members from participating in political activities or events that insult and offend specific religions. The Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, organized around the theme of campaigning for national same-sex ‘marriage’ laws, included men dressed as nuns carrying signs with the message “Jesus is gay.” Participants ridiculed and vilified politicians and political parties opposed to same-sex “marriage.” The event also included p

Australian army can't vilify Islam but Christianity gets vilified when army marched in Gay Mardi Gras

An Australian Army Bushmaster PMV in Afghanistan (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Major Bernie Gaynor jnr has served three tours of duty in Iraq but he is going to be thrown out of the army this week, or next, or very soon. And he is not going quietly. Last week, I attended a conference in Melbourne called the Symposium on Islam and Liberty in Australia , organised by the Q Society, and Gaynor was one of the speakers. I also interviewed him at length about why a patriotic, articulate Australian intelligence officer, now serving in the Army Reserve , has become an unbearable presence for the Chief of Army , among others. In his blog, Gaynor describes himself as ''a conservative Catholic who writes what normal men dare not speak out loud''. I put it to him that his commentary online and on Twitter had evolved into a provocation to the army. ''Absolutely,'' he replied. Everyone listening to his speech in Melbourne quickly understood why, and I quote: '&

Lady Gaga Jakarta concert canceled following outcry

Image
May 30, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - Lady Gaga has announced that she is canceling her planned concert for early June in Jakarta, Indonesia , due to security concerns raised by widespread protests against her sexualized performances and disrespectful use of religious imagery. “We had to cancel the concert in Indonesia ,” Gaga tweeted to her fans. “I’m so very sorry to the fans & just as devastated as you if not more,” she wrote. “You are everything to me.” “I will try to put together something special for you. My love for Indonesia has only grown,” Gaga added. In another tweet, she attributed her rejection to “hate” from the Indonesians opposing her presence. “It’s unfortunate,” said Minola Sebayang, a lawyer for the company promoting the show, “but with threats if the concert goes ahead, Lady Gaga’s side is calling it off. This is not only about Lady Gaga’s security, but extends to those who will be watching her.” The concert garnered broad opposition from Muslim g

Indonesians fight to stop ‘blasphemous’ Lady Gaga ‘Born this Way’ concert

Hitmixes (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) As Indonesian Muslim groups fight to stop a “Lady Gaga” concert in their country, the singer claims she is in negotiation with authorities to permit the event under certain restrictions. Islamic organizations have been fighting against the singer’s scheduled appearance in Jakarta , which is slated for June 3, for several weeks, on the grounds that her risqué, religion-mocking performances are “blasphemous” and toxic to the morality of young people. “Lady Gaga is considered an icon for liberal culture and Indonesia ’s freedom is not without limits,” Asrorun Niam, an official of the Muslim National Ulema Council (MUI), told the French Press Agency. “There are restrictions related to norms, morals and religion.” “We reject the Lady Gaga concert on a number of considerations, including cultural liberalization, which degrades the morality of the younger generation,” said Muhammad Rahmad Kurnia, Chairman of the Muslim group Hizbut Tahrir

Pakistanis denounce U.S. Embassy’s gay rights party as ‘cultural terrorism’

Image via Wikipedia A U.S. Embassy party in Islamabad billed as a celebration of homosexual rights inflamed conservative Pakistani groups, who condemned the event as an act of “cultural terrorism” aimed at the country’s Islamic values. The U.S. Embassy held a “gay pride” celebration on June 26, the first ever promotion of homosexual rights by U.S. diplomats in the Islamic nation. The  Associated Press (AP) reported  that a coalition of religious and political leaders, including Pakistan ’s largest Islamic party , Jamaat-e-Islami , released a statement condemning the U.S. government’s homosexual advocacy , calling it the “worst social and cultural terrorism against Pakistan.” The group called it the second most dangerous U.S. attack on Pakistan, following the unmanned drone attacks carried out by U.S. forces on suspected Islamic terrorists. According to the AP, U.S. deputy ambassador Richard Hoagland hosted the party, which was co-sponsored by Gays and Lesbians in Foreign Affairs
