“LGBTTIQQ2S? How many letters do we need, and what do half of these even stand for?,” someone recently asked in the comments section of a news article I wrote. The answer is simple: A letter is needed for every single sexual inclination and action that deviates from the obvious norm - i.e. sexual inclinations and actions between a male and female that are best expressed in marriage. Can I say such a thing without being discriminatory and homophobic? I hope it is not being discriminatory to point out what biology teaches. On a purely biological level, sexual organs are for the sake of reproduction. Nature produced woman with a vagina and man with a penis so that the two could come together to procreate new life. Ejaculation is for the sake of shooting a seed to fertilize the egg so that a new human being can come into existence. Why is it that so many people who support abortion also support the right of baby animals to live?  I personally believe that people are created in the Image of God and, therefore, their lives are the most important to protect.  (I also believe we shouldn’t needlessly kill animals.)  However, I get how people who believe in evolution and think that we are all animals could equate killing an animal baby to killing a human baby.  But what I don’t understand is how one can be so wrong and the other so right… For example, I was at a hearing recently where legal advisors for the pro-life side and the abortion industry were discussing their positions on the proposed Colorado Personhood Amendment.  The abortion advocate’s attorney, Lila Bateman, attempted to answer a hypothetical question. Image via Wikipedia Marriage is a public institution (not purely a private relationship) because it serves two public purposes: bringing together men and women for the reproduction of the human race , and keeping together a man and woman to raise to maturity the children produced by their union. The existence of future generations of children is fundamental to the survival of any society . The quality of their nurture is directly related to the quality of life within that society. Bonding the man and woman whose sexual union produces a child to one another and to that child is by far the healthiest way of insuring that nurture. Opposite- sex relationships are the only type  capable  of producing children through natural intercourse, and the only ones  assured  of providing children with both a mother and a father.
