Mask comes off: The LGBT left is out to silence Christian voices

Image
There has always been one end-game for the radical left: the silencing of dissenting voices, in particular, conservative Christian voices. The radical left is not simply interested in winning in the marketplace of ideas. It is not simply interested in changing hearts and minds. It is ultimately interested in silencing the opposition, especially all opposition that is based on a biblical worldview. For years I have said that those who came out of the closet (meaning, radical gay activists) wanted to put us in the closet (meaning those of who identify with conservative biblical values). And for years I (and many others) have documented this, time and time again. You might wonder how the radical left wants to silence us. How, exactly, does it want to put us in the closet? By intimidation. By ridicule. By legal action. By expulsion. By exclusion. Anything to avoid civil, respectful debate. Anything to avoid a genuine discussion of differences. Anything to avoid true dialogue.

UK police investigate transgender pronoun complaints, raising free speech concerns

Image
Members of the public in the United Kingdom are facing investigation by the police and criminal charges if they dare to challenge gender ideology on social media. The week before last, Harry Miller, 53, a plant and machinery dealer and married father of four, reported on Twitter that he had been contacted by Humberside Police at his workplace.  The police cited a series of 30 tweets which were deemed to be potentially “offensive.” Amongst them was a limerick written by a feminist which questioned whether transgender “women” can't be a biological woman. Although the police force admitted that no crime had been committed, Police Constable Mansoor Gul informed Miller that his tweets would be officially logged as a “hate incident” and insisted on referring to the “victim,” telling Miller that “we need to check your thinking.” NO FREE SPEECH - CHECK YOUR THINKING OR YOU MUST THINK THIS WAY Miller’s social media account contained no details pertaining to either his full identity

Trudeau govt. orders Canada post to cease delivering publication lacking ‘diversity’

Image
Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government has ordered Canada Post to cease delivering a controversial publication that the government has deemed to be inconsistent with its “values and stance on inclusiveness and diversity.” “After having carefully considered the recommendations of the independent board of review, I have decided to issue a final prohibitory order that will prevent the delivery of the publication Your Ward News, or any substantially similar material developed by its authors, through Canada Post’s unaddressed bulk mail," said Carla Qualtrough, the minister responsible for Canada Post Corporation, in a Nov. 15 statement . “My decision is consistent with the applicable legislation and the government’s values and stance on inclusiveness and diversity," she added. The minister based her decision on a Board of Review report which makes the case that Your Ward News has regularly published anti-Semitic, neo-Nazi material and so is tantamount to “hate propaganda.” Billiona

Twitter locks out conservative Christian for saying gay sex ‘spreads disease’ and is a ‘sin’

Editor's note: The following report is written by Peter LaBarbera, a former reporter for LifeSiteNews and the president of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH.org), based outside Chicago, Illinois. He shares a letter he wrote to Twitter after being banned from the platform for posting what the social media giant deemed "hateful conduct." WARNING: This this letter contains graphic medical descriptions of homosexual acts. October 17, 2018 – I sent a version of the following letter to Twitter today appealing their decision Monday to lock me out of my account ( @PeterLaBarbera ) due to a 2016 tweet describing homosexual acts as a “sin” that “spreads disease” – which Twitter deemed in violation of its rules against “hateful conduct.” Near the end of the letter, I state the following: "If Twitter no longer allows its users to advocate for healthy behaviors on its platform, and to defend their sincere moral and religious beliefs--shared by billions worldwide--th

Facebook deletes pro-family page for ‘hate speech’ against LGBT

Image
Over the weekend Facebook unpublished the page of a prominent social-conservative group for allegedly using unspecified “hate speech,” Americans for Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH) president Peter LaBarbera revealed Monday. AFTAH is dedicated to “apply[ing] the same single-minded determination to opposing the radical homosexual agenda and standing for God-ordained sexuality and the natural family as countless homosexual groups do in promoting their harmful agenda.” LaBarbera frequently debates homosexual issues on mainstream and pro-LGBT media and has written for LifeSiteNews. On Sunday, Facebook took down AFTAH’s Facebook page entirely, leaving only a “Page Not Found” message in its place as of the time of this writing. Censorship: California Senate passes bill banning books, therapy to help unwanted gay attraction

Image
The California Senate voted Thursday to approve the nation’s broadest proposed ban on treatment for overcoming unwanted same-sex attractions. The vote on Assembly Bill 2943 was 25-11, the  Washington Blade  reports . The bill forbids minors and adults alike from obtaining “sexual orientation change efforts,” regardless of their wishes. By classifying what leftists pejoratively call “conversion therapy” (also known as reparative therapy) under prohibited “goods,” critics say it would go so far as to ban the sale of books endorsing the practice, as well as other forms of constitutionally-protected speech. The Assembly  voted  50-14 to pass AB 2943 in April, but its Senate vote was delayed until after the summer recess following a deluge of phone calls from disapproving constituents and a fierce public backlash from churches and other religious groups. Bill sponsor and Democratic Assemblyman Evan Low reportedly considered amending it into a more palatable form, but  Courthouse N

Prof fired by Catholic university for defending marriage has huge court win

Image
The professor forced out by a  Jesuit-run  Catholic university for blogging about an undergrad student being  assailed by his teacher  for his having voiced defence of marriage has won in court. In a landmark decision Friday the Wisconsin Supreme Court said Marquette University violated John McAdams’ right to free speech when it suspended him for writing the blog post, and it ordered the University to restore McAdams immediately with his full rank, tenure, compensation and benefits. “The undisputed facts show that the University breached its contract with Dr McAdams when it suspended him for engaging in activity protected by the contract's guarantee of academic freedom,” court documents say. The Court wrote further that, "we reverse the circuit court and ... order the University to immediately reinstate Dr McAdams with unimpaired rank, tenure, compensation, and benefits." Breaking details were  shared  on Twitter by Weekly Standard author Charlie Sykes.  The

Why Jack Phillips’ win at the Supreme Court was a win for Christian conservatives

Image
There’s a lot of discussion about Monday’s U.S. Supreme Court decision which pitted religious freedoms against LGBT rights. Was the ruling really that significant? Since it was so narrow in scope, should Christian conservatives really rejoice? Did the justices merely kick the can down the road? (For my own take, see here and here .) Scores of articles have already been written on this, which means that it’s easy to lose sight of the forest for the trees. The bottom line is that Jack Phillips won. His religious freedoms were upheld. There was a pushback against governmental hostility towards religion. All that is very good news. To put this in perspective, what if the Supreme Court had ruled against Phillips? What if the justices said that the state was within its rights to punish him for declining to design a same-sex “wedding” cake? What if there was no pushback against Colorado’s overt and explicit hostility towards Phillip’s Christian beliefs? What then? What would headlines hav

London police issue new ‘hate crime’ guidelines: evidence of ‘hate’ is ‘not a requirement’

Image
The London Metropolitan Police released new  guidelines  for defining “hate crimes” within their jurisdiction, and their broadness has sparked renewed fear over authorities crossing the line from policing crimes to persecuting thought. The guidelines state that hate crimes motivated by “disability, gender identity , race, sexual orientation, religion, or any other perceived difference” need not be physical crimes in the traditional sense, but may include “using offensive language” about “who you are,” whether spoken in person or posted online. Moreover, the guidelines do not state objective criteria for determining whether “prejudice” motivated an action. It need only be simply “perceived” as such by the victim, a third party, or a police officer. In fact, the police expressly declare that “[e]vidence of the hate element is not a requirement.” In addition to straightforward examples of criminal conduct, such as physical assault or incitement to violence, the guidelines de

Study: More youth support gay ‘marriage,’ transgenderism than free speech

Image
Fewer than half of 18- to 21-year-olds worldwide think others should be free to express non-violent opinions that are offensive to minorities, according to a study highlighted by  The Economist . The data come from the  Varkey Foundation  and was released in February 2017. Only about half of the world’s young people support free speech , it revealed, but nearly two-thirds support same-sex “marriage.” The study asked two questions about free speech: whether “people should have a right to non-violent free speech in all circumstances even when what they say is offensive to a religion” and whether “people should have the right to non-violent free speech in all circumstances even when what they say is offensive to minority groups .” Youth expressed more support for free speech that is offensive to religions than they did for free speech that is offensive to minorities. The study also indicates that 74 percent of young people worldwide support the same rights for transgender-i

Teacher under fire for Christian view of marriage, resigns after LGBT witch hunt

Image
A California teacher resigned after a letter he wrote for the school newspaper condemning homosexuality caused backlash. Michael Stack, a special education teacher at San Luis Obispo High School , submitted  the letter  to editor of the online  Expressions  responding to its May issue covering LGBT issues that contained a cover photo of two women kissing. He resigned May 11, the same day someone called in a death threat for him to the school. Stack had faced criticism after citing the Bible on the sinfulness of homosexuality in the letter. The passage he referenced (Romans 1:16-32) states that individuals who take part in homosexual acts “suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved” “as a result of this sin.” “Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God,” it says, “He abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.” The passage goes on to describe various elements of wickedness and into which their lives would d
