Unstable homosexual relationships causes problem for children?

Image
Young adults from broken homes in which a parent had had a same-sex relationship reported modestly more psychological and social problems in their current lives than peers from other families that had experienced divorce and other disruptions, a new study has found, stirring bitter debate among partisans on gay marriage. The study counted parents as gay or lesbian by asking participants whether their parents had ever had a same-sex relationship; the parents may not have identified themselves as gay or lesbian. Gay-rights groups attacked the study, financed by conservative foundations, as biased and poorly done even before its publication on Sunday in the journal Social Science Research. But outside experts, by and large, said the research was rigorous, providing some of the best data yet comparing outcomes for adult children with a gay parent with those with heterosexual parents. But they also said the findings were not particularly relevant to the current debate over gay marriage o

The terrible injustice of same-sex ‘marriage’: my story

Image
Image via CrunchBase SAN DIEGO, CA , March 26, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - I saw an “ALL love is equal!” graphic posted up and down my news feed on Facebook this morning. It’s designed to strike a chord with a person ’s sense of justice and compassion, of course; quick and manipulative slogans are the fodder of politics – and fools. My liberal arts-educated mind kicked in immediately, screaming, “No it isn’t!” Deliberately disregarding the intended purpose of the graphic, I lectured my computer screen, “There are filial, agape, eros…” But, more to the point, although love is most certainly a prerequisite for marriage (these days, at least), it certainly is not the only one. It is not enough. Marriage is life-giving. It is procreative. It involves children. Is it not more honorable to care for the wellbeing of children above the love – whatever love it might be – between adults? Does society not have a greater responsibility to uphold laws that protect children? Though

Shape or be shaped: Christians in an era of marriage decline

Image
February 6, 2013 ( Mercatornet.com ) - Christians throughout the West are dismayed at plummeting church attendance figures. They blame video games, or left-wing teachers, or Richard Dawkins . But perhaps the real answer is closer to home -- their own families. Divorce, single motherhood and cohabitation have been  destabilising  family life in America and other developed countries for decades. About one million children in the US each year experience the divorce of their parents, and more than half the children born to women under 30 are now born outside marriage. Reproductive technologies are also adding ambiguity -- and potential fault lines -- to family relationships. Christians as a whole  seem as likely  as the average American to be caught up in these trends. At the same time religious practice and church affiliation are declining. It seems obvious that these twin crises of marriage and faith are related, but what are the dynamics? Did religion decline and then marr

Group of moms boycott new pro-homosexual TV show

A pro-family group is calling on citizens to boycott a new NBC television series focusing on a gay couple who obtain a surrogate to have a baby. One Million Moms, a group of mothers affiliated with American Family Association , says  The New Normal , which premieres Sept. 11th, is “attempting to desensitize America and our children.” The show features an unwed mother who offers to be a surrogate for a homosexual couple to make money for law school, a plan she postponed when she found out she was pregnant with her now 8-year-old daughter. In the trailer, the woman’s grandmother is portrayed as a racist, anti-gay, southern conservative Christian who implies that she would have aborted her daughter if she had realized she was pregnant soon enough. The  trailer  depicts the homosexual couple asking the woman if she has problem being a surrogate for two men. She responds saying, “A family is a family; love is love.” A  recent study  found that children raised by homose

Kids of homosexual parents perform much worse than heterosexual parents

A new study which found that children of heterosexual parents fare better on numerous indicators of personal well-being than children of homosexual parents is being hailed by true marriage advocates as by far the most scientifically credible studies to date on the subject. Authored by Mark Regnerus, a sociology professor at the University of Texas at Austin , the study will be published in the July 2012 issue of Social Science Research, and is currently  available online . Regnerus’ findings, based upon the responses from children raised by their biological parents , or a homosexual parent with his or her partner, were striking. He found that 12% of those with a lesbian mother and 24% of those with a gay father reported having recently contemplated suicide, compared to only 5% raised by an intact biological family or a single parent . While 28% of those raised by a lesbian mother and 20% of those raised by a gay father reported being currently unemployed, compared to 8% ra

Married Biological Parents Still Best for Kids; No Evidence Same-Sex Couples Their Equal

Two groundbreaking papers were published yesterday in the journal Social Science Research which strongly indicate what common sense dictates: that children fare best in households with their married, biological mother and father—including when compared to children who lived with parents in same-sex relationships . In his paper, Loren Marks of the Louisiana State University demonstrates that all 59 research papers on which the American Psychological Association (APA) based its glowing 2005 statement on same-sex parenting contained scientific flaws, and that the APA’s statement lacks even minimal basis in science. Mark Regnerus of the University of Texas follows up by introducing a new data set, the New Family Structures Study (NFSS), which is considered the finest in the field and which indicates that children raised with parents in same-sex relationships fare significantly worse on a wide variety of outcome metrics. In 2005, the APA declared—in a statement authored by a sing

Homosexuals ignore NFSS study adult children of gay fathers and lesbian mothers had inferior economic, education, social and psychological outcomes than children who were raised in intact biological families

NFSS study found:  adult children of gay fathers and lesbian mothers had inferior economic, education, social and psychological outcomes than children who were raised in intact biological families . The New Family Structures Study (NFSS) is a new social-science data-collection project whose survey gathered data from a large and random sample of American young adults (ages 18–39) who were raised in different types of family arrangements (including cohabiting parents, adoptive, step, same-sex parents, and single parents). The data include 2,500 cases (so far), with oversamples of young adults who report being adopted and those who report a parent in a same-sex romantic relationship. The NFSS should enable scholars to compare how young adults from—and currently living in—different family structures fare on a variety of social, emotional, and relational outcomes. Outcomes of particular interest include social behaviors (like educational performance, work history, and risk-taking), healt
