How many states have banned gay ‘marriage’?

(Photo credit: Wikipedia ) May 24, 2012 (FRC.org) - In the wake of the passage of North Carolina’s marriage amendment on May 8, by an overwhelming 61%-39% margin, there have been a number of media reports on the state of marriage law in the fifty states , and how many states have taken action to prevent the issuances of marriage licenses to couples of the same sex. The numbers reported in these stories have sometimes been contradictory, and this may lead to some confusion. With this article, I will try to clarify  where the states now stand  on this issue. First, let’s look at states that have amended their state constitutions in such a way as to prevent the legalization of same-sex “marriage” in those states. Including North Carolina, there are thirty (30) states in

Obama and his immoral gay agenda

Official photographic portrait of US President Barack Obama (born 4 August 1961; assumed office 20 January 2009) (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) The media is abuzz with the news that President Obama has publicly endorsed same-sex marriage . Many see political calculation. The  Washington Post  suggests a financial connection, noting that 1 in 6 of Obama's top fundraisers are gay or lesbian. Others are calling the announcement a profile in courage—a claim more convincing had it not been preceded by two years of suggestive "evolution" and three days of awkward damage control over Vice President Biden 's remarks this past weekend. After months of trying to have it both ways, the charade is over. President Obama has opposed every state marriage amendment, despite claiming to support the right of states to decide the issue. He opposes a federal constitutional amendment that would protect states' right to define marriage. And his administration is trying to dismantle state

North Carolina votes Tuesday on marriage amendment: ‘one man and one woman’

The bill would not only strike a preemptive blow against same-sex “marriage,” but would further strengthen marriage by ending heterosexual domestic partnerships. Amendment One, which appears on Tuesday’s primary ballot, states: “Marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this State. This section does not prohibit a private party from entering into contracts with another private party; nor does this section prohibit courts from adjudicating the rights of private parties pursuant to such contracts.” A Public Policy Polling survey last week found North Carolina voters supporting the amendment 51-44 percent.  Even Democrats in the state oppose the measure b

Colombian Christians issue joint condemnation of homosexual ‘marriage’ as court decision approaches

Image
Image via Wikipedia The leaders of Colombia ’s major Christian denominations have issued a joint statement asking the nation’s Constitutional Court to protect the institution of marriage and reject a petition to create homosexual marriage as a constitutional “right.” The Court is due to issue its decision on the matter today, following a suit filed by a homosexual couple in January of this year. The statement, which was signed by representatives of the Catholic Church , Evangelical Protestant churches, Methodists , and Anglicans , states that “the bond between two men or two women cannot constitute a true marriage or a true family, and much less can the right to adopt minors be attributed to it.” “Anthropologically and psychologically the integral complementarity of the couple is of a man and a woman, with the purpose of a union in love, of the fruit of love in children and the creation of a family, ” the prelates add. “We respectfully invite the magistrates of the Constitution

Judge rules Wisconsin gay domestic partnership law legal, not similar to marriage

Image
Image via Wikipedia A circuit court judge has ruled that Wisconsin ’s domestic partner registry law does not violate a voter-approved constitutional amendment banning same-sex “marriage” or a marriage-like legal status for homosexual couples. “ The state does not recognize domestic partnership in a way that mirrors how the state recognizes marriage,” Dane County Judge Daniel Moeser wrote in a ruling released Monday. The constitutional amendment, which was approved by 59 percent of Wisconsin voters in 2006, states, “Only a marriage between one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in this state.  A legal status identical or substantially similar to that of marriage for unmarried individuals shall not be valid or recognized in this state.” Pro- traditional marriage advocates argue that the domestic partnership law passed by a Democrat-controlled legislature in 2009 sets up an institution for homosexuals that parrots marriage. However, the judge disagreed

Minnesota marriage amendment passes Senate and House committees

Image
Image via Wikipedia A bill that would give Minnesota residents the opportunity to vote on whether or not to add an amendment to the state Constitution defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman moved forward in the Minnesota legislature this week. The measure passed the state’s Senate Judiciary Committee last Friday after 3 ½ hours of debate by a vote of 8-4. It has now been referred to the Rules Committee . In the House, it was approved in a 10-7 vote by the Civil Law Committee this past Monday and will now go before the House Ways and Means Committee . Both the House and Senate votes were cast along party lines. Despite a push by the National Organization for Marriage for traditional marriage supporters to attend the Senate hearing, the turnout consisted mainly of homosexual activists, according to a Pioneer Daily report. According to the report, over 150 people crowded into the overflow room to watch the hearing on television, many carrying pro-homosexual signs, a
