Mainstream media goes gaga over Pope Francis and same-sex civil unions

Image
ROME, March 7, 2014– As I do most mornings, one of the first things I did today was put the search terms “Pope Francis” into Google . This morning the offerings from the mainstream media, and a fair chunk of the blogosphere, is along the lines of “Pope Francis leaves door open for civil unions!” Ah, there must have been another interview, I thought. Here we go again… Sure enough, yesterday  Corriere della Sera , one of Italy’s mainstream daily papers published another “wide-ranging”  interview with Pope Francis , and the usual round of arguments, disputes and triumphant whoops exploded over what the pope said, didn’t say, was mistranslated or misinterpreted or misrepresented as saying, in the press and the blogosphere. An English translation was provided  Wednesday by  Zenit , which gave the money quote as: Many countries have regulated civil unions. Is it a path that the Church can understand? But up to what point? Holy Father : Marriage is between one man and o

Kentucky AG claims decision not to defend marriage was ‘shaped partly’ by Pope Francis

FRANKFORT, KY , March 6, 2014– Pope Francis has unequivocally opposed same-sex “marriage.” As a cardinal he went so far as to call it a “machination of the Father of lies .” But that hasn’t stopped Catholic politicians from claiming him as their inspiration when they take part in overturning the traditional definition of marriage. Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway , a Catholic Democrat, became the latest to do so when he  explained  to  Time  magazine this week his decision not to defend his state’s marriage laws after a federal judge ruled Kentucky must recognize out-of-state same-sex “marriages.” In the words of  Time : A Catholic and a Democrat considering running for governor in 2015, Conway said he knew the decision could put him at odds with voters and with church leaders in his hometown. His thinking was shaped partly by statements from Pope Francis that encouraged openness toward gays. “Our new pope recently said on an airplane ‘Who am I to judge.’ The new

West trying to make Nigeria ‘dumping ground’ for ‘immoral practices’: Catholic bishops to gov’t

ABUJA, Nigeria , February 3, 2014 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – Western governments and media around the world are attacking Nigeria’s Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act, 2013, which outlaws same-sex “marriage” as well as propagandizing by the homosexualist lobby. However, one of the few voices giving public support is that of the Nigerian Catholic bishops, who have issued a statement congratulating the government for the passage of the law. The president of the Nigerian Catholic bishops’ conference, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama of Jos, wrote to the president saying that the government’s decision “not to bow to international pressure in the promotion of unethical and immoral practices of same sex union and other related vices” is “a courageous one and a clear indication of the ability of our great country to stand shoulders high in the protection of our Nigerian and African most valued cultures of the institution of marriage and protection of the dignity of the human person.” Arch

Pope Francis was ‘shocked’ by civil unions/gay adoption bill, urged me to fight it: Malta bishop

Image
Pope Benedictus XVI (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Malta’s auxiliary bishop says Pope Francis was “shocked” earlier this month when the bishop informed him of the push to legalize same-sex civil unions and homosexual adoption on the Mediterranean island nation. Bishop Charles Scicluna, who is being criticized in the media for defending traditional marriage in his Christmas homily last week, said the pope told him at a meeting December 12th to be vocal in opposing the Civil Unions Bill. The bill is currently being considered by the Maltese legislature and would give same-sex couples the same rights as married couples, including adoption.  “He was quite shocked by the issue of civil unions and gay adoptions in Malta,” the bishop told  The Sunday Times of Malta . “We discussed many aspects... and when I raised the issue that’s worrying me as a bishop [the right for gay couples to adopt] he encouraged me to speak out,” he added. The mainstream media has widely reported that t

Maltese Church denounces proposed same-sex civil union legislation

Image
A Maltese bishop has slammed the government's proposed same-sex civil union legislation, saying that there is simply no equivalence between heterosexual and homosexual relationships .  “While the sexual activity of heterosexual couples has a fundamental role in producing future members of the society, that of same-sex couples does not have a role in society as it does not produce offspring,” said Bishop Charles Scicluna during an interview with Reno Bugeja on TV Malta's Dissett investigative news program.  Bishop Scicluna criticized the ambiguity of the terms used in the bill, saying that the government must make a clear distinction between civil unions and marriage, and should come clean on what it is actually proposing.  “Currently, the obligations and rights of members within a civil union are barely different from those within a marriage and consequently, parliament needs to clearly distinguish the rights pertinent to a marriage and those to a civil union,”

New Zealand immoral homosexual laws drag Presbyterian Church into heresy

Image
Homosexual advocate Margaret Mayman a  Wellington liberal minister and her partner of 17 years, Clare Brockett, were married last weekend.  117 homosexual couples have married since Parliament legalised immoral homosexual marriage in April.  "We feel like we are full citizens of New Zealand," she said. "It is definitely something to celebrate."   The question in people's minds regarding homosexuality have not changed, regardless of what a government may ordain and approve, it will always be seen as an affront to the holiness of God.  Theologically a person like this has placed themselves under extreme condemnation according to the Apostle Paul in Romans 1, which lists lesbianism as the worst example of homosexual sin by listing it first in the list of sins where God hands people over to the consequences of their own sin.  But because they claim to be a liberal church, they have no need to adhere to the scripture at all, and can completely ignore,

Hysterical homosexual marriage advocates

Rainbow flag. Symbol of gay pride. (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) IN Australia 's often hysterical same-sex marriage dispute there are two benchmarks - the only enduring basis for change should be the national parliament and that vote should be based on conscience, given the practice established with the 1961 Marriage Act. Or put to a referendum where the people will vote it out as it did with Kevin Rudd who supported immoral homosexual marriage. Let Homosexual Marriage go to a referendum

Image
It is deeply unjust to take away the human rights of the majority to enjoy their cherished, cultural and religious institution of exclusive heterosexual marriage , simply so that homosexual elites can marry instead of enjoying substantially the same legal rights as partners in a homosexual civil union. Forcing such change without a referendum is deeply undemocratic. Vilifying those who oppose this as bigots or homophobes is unfair and divisive. But the affirmative action elite are not democrats. They can only be defeated by demolishing their fake arguments about discrimination. It is hypocrisy for homosexuals to argue that denying them marriage makes them victims of inequality when they themselves demand inequality when requesting affirmative action, or exclusively homosexual services, as they do. Civil union legislation acknowledges homosexual identity by providing an exclusive cultural institution for homosexual while leaving heterosexuals with their own, making both groups e
