Woman explains why she left ‘super wild’ lesbian lifestyle to follow Christ

Image
Immersed in the gay lifestyle from age fifteen, Emily Thomes’ life was transformed when she encountered the real God. Rebellious from an early age, Emily’s actions led her into immoral choices.  “I met my need for attention by constantly ‘going against the grain,’” she  explains  online and in a  viral video  released last week.   “I partied, slept around, and by fifteen I came out as a lesbian to some friends,” Emily continued in the  Anchored North -produced video.  “I cut my hair short, wore boy clothes, and used men’s bathrooms and dressing rooms.” She figured God was okay with her doings, because “God being love meant God was nice.”  Her view of God was one of benevolent all-acceptance.  “God was chill with what you were cool with,” she thought. As she became more and more openly gay , she delved deeper and deeper into perversion.  “I enjoyed the thrill of doing and being what was outside the norm—trying harder drugs, exploring even more taboo sexual acts, and getting a

High Court to rule on Christian student declared unfit to practice as a social worker because of 'traditional' views on homosexuality

Image
The High Court will rule on whether Christians who express "traditional" views on homosexuality can be barred from gaining professional qualifications after a social work student won the right to challenge his expulsion. Felix Ngole, 39, w as removed from a two-year MA course at Sheffield University in February last year after saying during a Facebook debate that "the Bible and God identify homosexuality as a sin". He received permission to mount a judicial review in a preliminary hearing at the High Court. The full case will be heard later this year. He is thought to be the first claimant to challenge a decision which barred him from a profession because his religious beliefs made him "unfit to practice". Mr Ngole, who also worked as a religious education teacher, argued that he had been unfairly stopped from completing his degree. His case is backed by the Christian Legal Centre , part of campaign group Christian Concern . Chief execut

Should Evangelicals Evolve on Homosexuality?

I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’d read with great interest about her life, both in articles and her published work . She had been a postmodern professor at Syracuse University and a lesbian and gay activist. But God saved her, and in recent years she’s become a great resource for the church as a thinker, speaker, and writer, helping the church more effectively engage the LGBT community . I was a bit intimidated, but soon after she entered the room, I knew I could relax. I could tell right away I was in for a treat. When Rosaria and I sat down to talk about “the new America,” the topic of homosexuality was at the forefront of our minds. The LGBT community has taken society by storm. The country’s view of homosexuals is rapidly evolving, and many are petitioning the church to follow suit. Some think the church is iterating as well. At the beginning of this year, Time published a piece entitled, “How Evangelicals Are Changing Their Minds on Gay Marriage.” The article alleges, In p

A mayor’s backlash against a basic statement of Evangelical Christian belief signals an ominous turn in the culture wars.

Image
Don’t ever forget that, for some folks, “ separation of church and state ” is a half-measure. It’s just a pit stop on the road to de-Christianizing America. It’s a temporary means to a much bigger end.  I was honored to sign a document called the Nashville Statement. It’s a basic declaration of Christian orthodoxy on sexuality, sexual orientation, and sexual identity. Its 14 articles can be boiled down to a simple statement: We believe the Bible is the word of God, and the word of God declares that sexual intimacy is reserved for the lifelong union of a man and a woman in marriage.  It acknowledges the reality of same-sex attraction as well as the reality of transgender self-conceptions, but denies that God sanctions same-sex sexual activity or a transgendered self-conception that is at odds with biological reality. In other words, it’s basic Christianity .  Sometimes, however, one needs to state the obvious. There are powerful peer and cultural pressures that are pushi

Christian Singer Vicky Beeching Appeals to God's Love to Justify Her Lesbianism

Image
I had not previously heard of Vicky Beeching but she was celebrated a couple of days ago in a slanted interview from a British newspaper The Independent for "coming out" as a self-affirmed lesbian ("Vicky Beeching, Christian rock star 'I'm gay. God loves me just the way I am'" Aug. 13). Judging from the interview, this attractive and sympathetic 35-year-old remains spiritually impoverished in her theological reasoning—and this in spite of the fact that she has a B.A. and Masters in Religion and Ethics from Oxford University and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at Durham University . The "focus of her doctoral thesis" will be on (surprise) "what the Biblical texts actually say about same-sex relationships/marriage" ( http://vickybeeching.com/about/ ). In the article she states that the battle between her same-sex attraction and her picture of God as opposed to homosexual unions "was ripping me in half."   I am sympa

Pro-homosexual Fr. Martin should not be in ‘position of responsibility’: evangelical bible scholar

Image
Evangelical Bible and homosexuality scholar   Robert Gagnon   adds his voice to the widespread Catholic criticism of Vatican communications consultant Fr. James Martin over Martin's pro-LGBT advocacy. In April,   Pope Francis appointed   the socially “progressive” priest consultor to the Vatican’s Secretariat for Communication. Gagnon, author of " The Bible and Homosexual Practice : Texts and Hermeneutics," said   Martin , editor-at-large at   America   magazine, “has no business being in a position of responsibility in the Catholic Church .” He was reacting to Martin’s interview last week with a   San Francisco “gay” newspaper,   Bay Area Reporter , in which he claimed that among the reasons that people have reacted “viciously” to his   “bridge-building” efforts   toward homosexuals is that they have “visceral disgust at same-sex relations” or “hatred of LGBT people .” The most important reason, Martin said, is that his opponents potentially have “discomfort

Question: What should someone who has an ongoing, seemingly unchanged pattern of same-sex attraction do in obedience to Christ?

Image
Question: What should someone who has an ongoing, seemingly unchanged pattern of same-sex attraction do in obedience to Christ ? That Christian must, by the authority of Scripture and in obedience to the gospel, submit everything she is to Christ. For someone who has an ongoing, seemingly unchanged, and perhaps unchangeable (in this life) pattern of same-sex attraction, the call to holiness would appear, in most cases, to be a call to celibacy . In all cases, it would be a call to avoid sexual sin and any celebration of a sexual orientation that disobeys God and his Word. No escape from same-sex attraction may come. Thus, celibacy, honored by Christ himself and regarded by the apostle Paul , would appear to be the requirement of faithfulness and obedience. The Christian church has failed in not affirming the gift of celibacy. It has failed to show how the gift of celibacy reflects obedience to Christ and the glory of God.  The Christian church has also failed to hon

Gay Smear Campaign

Image
Today’s leftist liars understand the harsh reality and know that their “ end justifies the means ” approach toward delegitimizing pro-family conservatives as “hateful” bigots yields big political and cultural dividends — and scares the media away from featuring conservatives in their stories. With QANTAS , Suncorp , Telstra , Apple , Amex, BOQ, BT , and other companies becoming corporate bullies - the bigot campaign appears to have legs. And yet, despicable as the Love is Love or Australian Marriage Equality hate- smear campaign is, it is highly effective. Making the spurious charge against morality-defenders as “haters” is far easier to do in our post-Christian , morally dumbed-down culture than defending oneself against the loaded accusation. Indeed, forcing conservatives and Christians to plead defensively, “I’m not … ” is part of the Love is Love’s propaganda strategy. In such a culture, accusing good-hearted Christians and conservatives of “hating gays” merely becau

Gay man finds freedom from homosexuality through Christ

Image
A former homosexual is professing that homosexuality can be overcome through Christ . Chris Delaney , founder of Joseph's Coat Ministries in Chattanooga, Tennessee , lived as a homosexual for 12 years until he became a Christian . According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press , Delaney proudly calls himself an " ex-gay " and admits that after an unstable childhood, he needed male affirmation in his life more than homosexual behavior . However, he turned to the latter instead of Christ. After years living as a homosexual, he says God changed his life and healed him through Bible and counseling, undergoing a lengthy transformation to become "sexually reoriented" by God. "The homosexuality did not have a hold on my life after about two years of deep therapy, deep worship, deep understanding of God's Word," he points out. "And after that two-year period...I felt the call of the Lord to begin a ministry." Delaney has taken a lot of

Homosexuality: Eugene Peterson and Jesus Cannot Both be Right

Image
In a recent article entitled, Eugene Peterson on Changing His Mind about Same-Sex Issues and Marriage , we see again how truth is crumbling under the sledge-hammer of political correctness. America cannot fall because she has already fallen. We are now picking up the pieces of a broken nation reflected in our laws, lives, families, and children. America's moral heartbeat has ceased because we cut off the source of life. We need resuscitation, renewal, and revival of the truth. The truth is often neglected, watered-down, or avoided altogether in the hope of not offending members and building a large audience. We want to build a church rather than break a heart; be politically correct rather than biblically correct; coddle and comfort rather than stir and convict. Pastors are to be pillars who support truth, not who oppose it. Truth is not "flexible" when it comes to absolutes—it’s solid and unyielding. I have nothing but compassion for those trapped in sexual sin. Thos

Hope for the same-sex attracted

Image
In the new movie Beauty and the Beast, Disney has created its first openly gay character. This has provoked anger in some Christians as well as fear. Perhaps most important, this legitimization of same-sex relationships in popular culture is clouding the hope of the gospel for the same-sex attracted. It can seem like God is distant, his Scriptures out-of-date, and his redemptive love impotent. But this is not true. God is on the throne. And for the same-sex struggler, the gospel is gloriously good news. There is reason to hope. Psalm 27 is one of my favorite psalms . The reason I love it is that one of the central themes of the psalm in my opinion is that the presence of God is the factor that can change everything. This is why David says his one aim is to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord . Enemies are all around. Things need to be learned. God might even be silent. But all of these things pale in comparison to the manifest presence of God in David’s life. This is David’s ho

Why churches say no to homosexual marriage

Image
Some issues in the Christian life matter more than others . The apostle Paul made a distinction between matters that were primary to the gospel, and issues that were not. In 1 Corinthians 15:3 he writes, “What I received I passed on to you as of first importance.” This is not to say that other issues are of no importance, just that they are not of first importance. Not taking a side on this issue is to take a side. To decide it is a matter of indifference is to risk having Jesus against you. In Romans 14:1 he instructs his readers not to pass judgment on “disputable matters.” On such issues Christians need to know their own mind and receive in fellowship those who differ. We might consider as examples of present day "disputable matters" issues like infant baptism, or our understanding of the end times. On such matters Christians are free to differ. But on matters of first importance we must remain in agreement if we are to be faithful to the gospel. There are five
