Oxford says male students can wear skirts to exams, others

University of Oxford (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) Oxford University caves to gay activist pressure: Male students may wear skirts to exams OXFORD – Oxford University has acceded to the demands of the university’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer Society (LGBTQ Soc) that male students be allowed to wear women’s clothes to exams and other formal occasions. The decision overturns centuries of tradition at one of the world’s oldest academic institutions, in which students are required to dress formally to sit exams. The academic dress code is in effect a uniform, called “subfusc,” and includes an academic gown, cap, and white bow tie for men and a black ribbon for women. It is traditionally worn at chapel services, formal meals as well as exams and academic assessments as well as matriculation. Before the August 4 decision, male students were required to wear a dark suit with black shoes, white shirt and collar, under their gowns. The new rules have abolished the rules

David Cameron's picture on the 10 Downing Street website (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) LONDON, March 22, 2012 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - Only a “huge mobilisation” of the public, guided and encouraged by strong and united religious leadership, will stop the Cameron government from instituting “gay marriage,” the head of Britain’s leading pro-life organisation told LifeSiteNews.com today. John Smeaton , director of the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children ( SPUC ) said in an interview that he is “reasonably optimistic” about the prospect looming ahead. Despite the undeniable fact that David Cameron ’s “New Tory” government is “expressing its determination” to force a redefinition of marriage, Smeaton said that in today’s Britain, the public have become more aware of their rights and duties, and he predicts a “very big reaction against these plans.” A major part of this reaction, he predicted, is going to be an unprecedented coalition of Christian denominations and other religi

UK gvmt promises to legalize same-sex ‘marriage’ before 2015

Image
LONDON, U.K. , – Britain’s coalition government is aiming to legalize same-sex “marriage” before the next general election in 2015, announced Equalities Minister Lynne Featherstone on Saturday.  The move comes after the “personal intervention” of Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron , reports the U.K.’s Daily Mail. The decision to push for homosexual "marriage" reportedly comes after the "personal intervention" of UK Prime Minister David Cameron. “I believe that to deny one group of people the same opportunities offered to another is not only discrimination, but is not fair,” said Featherstone.  The government will begin formal consultations on the issue in March. Same-sex couples in Britain have been able to access comparable benefits to married couples since 2005 when the country legalized same-sex “civil partnerships.”  The government’s latest effort would focus strictly on changing the perennial definition of marriage. Writing on his own Facebook page, which was not accessible to anyone other than his Facebook friends, Smith had responded to a BBC news item about a controversial new law that would allow churches to conduct same-sex union ceremonies. Asked if his comment meant that he did not approve of the proposed law, Smith wrote, “No, not really. I don’t understand why people who have no faith and d

Facebook, Google, social media sites ‘actively’ censor Christian content: study

Image
Image via CrunchBase A new study has found that Google and other major social media sites such as Facebook have “actively” censored Christian and conservative viewpoints. The first report , conducted by  National Religious Broadcasters  (NRB) and the  American Center for Law and Justice , examined the policies and practices of several major Internet-interactive “new media” communications platforms and service providers, including Apple and its iTunes App Store , Facebook, Google, and others. Many of the top social media sites have been found to be "actively" censoring Christian viewpoints. The study found that some of the new media technology companies have outright banned Christian content, and that all social media sites, except Twitter, have speech policies more restrictive than the free speech rights guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution. According to the study, seven of the major social media sites have banned “hate speech,” a term that the study authors point out “is o

Christians treated too harshly by courts: UK Equalities Commission

Image
Image via Wikipedia In what is being interpreted by some as an abrupt “u-turn,” the UK ’s Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has said that Christians are being treated too harshly by judges in legal battles , mostly over complaints brought forward by homosexuals. Commission lawyers say they are concerned that rulings against Christians already made by UK and European courts have created “a body of confusing and contradictory case law.” “Judges have interpreted the law too narrowly in religion or belief discrimination claims,” said a statement posted to the organization’s website. The EHRC also said that it will ask leave to intervene in upcoming cases at the European Court of Human Rights .  In several cases Christians who have come into conflict with homosexualist activists under the UK’s recently installed Equality laws, are pursuing their complaints at the Strasbourg court. These include  Lillian Ladele , the marriage registrar who refused to perform same-sex civil pa
