WASHINGTON , May 10, 2012  – The president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York , said that President Obama’s newly-announced support for redefining marriage is a blow to the institution of marriage, but unsurprising given the Obama administration ’s record. The reform, which was passed in a perfectly unanimous 107-0 vote, declares “ sexual preference ” to be a “ human right .” It must now be approved by the nation’s Chamber of Deputies and 17 of Mexico’s states in order to become part of the constitution.
