WASHINGTON , May 10, 2012  – The president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York , said that President Obama’s newly-announced support for redefining marriage is a blow to the institution of marriage, but unsurprising given the Obama administration ’s record. Cardinal Timothy Dolan “President Obama’s comments today in support of the redefinition of marriage are deeply saddening,” wrote Dolan in  a letter  posted on the USCCB website.  “The Catholic Bishops stand ready to affirm every positive measure taken by the President and the Administration to strengthen marriage and the family. However, we cannot be silent in the face of words or actions that would undermine the institution of marriage, the very cornerstone of our society.  The people of this country, especially our children, deserve better.” The Obama campaign recently   released a list   of the president’s many actions in favor of the gay rights agenda, including refusin

Image via Wikipedia Mexican pro-lifers, including the Cardinal Archbishop of Guadalajara , are protesting the recent passage of a homosexualist “human rights” amendment to the nation’s constitution by the Mexican Senate . The reform, which was passed in a perfectly unanimous 107-0 vote, declares “ sexual preference ” to be a “ human right .” It must now be approved by the nation’s Chamber of Deputies and 17 of Mexico’s states in order to become part of the constitution. Cardinal Archbishop Juan Sandoval Iñiguez denounced the measure as a Pandora’s box of sexual perversion. “When sexual preferences are protected, the door is open to every type of irregularity and aberration, because it is fitting to note that there are very aberrant sexual preferences, for example the case of pedophilia, zoophilia, among others,” wrote Sandoval in the the archdiocesan newspaper El Seminario. “In this way, practices like so-called ‘marriage’ between people of the same sex, will remain, so to speak

Image via Wikipedia New South Wales Premier Kristina Keneally has strongly berated Cardinal George Pell , saying she is greatly “saddened” by his recent comments criticizing Christian politicians who disregard Church teaching. She said she believes Pell risks being “interpreted as condemnatory and threatening.” Kealey who bills herself as a devout Catholic, opposes Church teaching on homosexuality and abortion. In an interview with the Herald Sun earlier this month, Cardinal Pell had criticized politicians who “fly under the Christian or Captain Catholic flag” but “blithely disregard Christian perspectives” when facing a vote on moral issues in parliament. “I read those comments from the Archbishop and, if anything, they saddened me,” Keneally  told  the Sunday Telegraph . “Almost every Catholic politician I know takes their responsibility as an elected representative and their faith very seriously,” said the Premier. “Many have really struggled, as have I, when moral issues requi
