A small group of USA judges took it upon themselves to redefine historic marriage on behalf of millions of people. Whu gave them that right?  In light of these developments, many Christians are wondering if the struggle to preserve marriage is worth it.  “What’s the use?” they ask.  If you’re wondering why this battle is still important, here are five reasons why marriage still matters – and why it matters to you: 1. Marriage as defined by God has not changed.  Ideologies come and go.  Cultural customs can – and do – change.  Societies can decline and descend into depravity.  As U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia reminded us, “Societies can rot as well as ripen.”  But God’s Truth and God’s standard remain unchanged. 2. Royal Canadian Navy commander Vice-Admiral Ron Lloyd urged sailors last week to attend "Pride" events in uniform without any special permission to show that the Navy is "diverse" and "inclusive." "In an effort to epitomize diversity and inclusion," Lloyd wrote in his directives, "the (Navy) encourages attendance to Pride events and authorizes the wear of uniform to participate in or attend the parade." The Navy commander said that effective immediately, Navy personnel no longer had to seek permission in order to wear their uniforms in homosexual "Pride" parades. Lloyd marched in last year's Pride Parade in Toronto . He told  Canadian Press that he issued the directives after meeting with members of the LGBTQ community , who complained to him about Navy members needing permission to wear their uniforms in Pride Parades . Canada ’s federal public servants have three chances to pass a mandatory feminist “gender equality” course or face unspecified consequences. We've  learned of a number of federal employees who fear that if they refuse to take the test, or outright fail it by not selecting the feminist-approved answers, they might be overlooked for promotion. Some fear they might even lose their jobs.  The gender-based analysis plus (GBA+) course was  developed  under Jean Chretien ’s Liberal government in 1995. Its purpose was to “advance gender equality in Canada” by helping government employees craft and implement “gender equality” policies, programs, and legislation.  The GBA+ tool was erratically applied over the past 20 years. A Nova Scotia judge has acquitted Canada ’s most prominent homosexual-activist pastor of charges that he sexually abused a 16-year-old boy, despite acknowledging in his ruling the “likelihood or even a probability that some sexual activity happened in the bedroom.” Judge Alan Tufts acquitted Toronto gay-pastor Brent Hawkes in a case going back to the 1970s after concluding that the complainant ’s testimony did not hold up to scrutiny, and that there were “significant inconsistencies” in the testimony of the witnesses. “In the end, it is not clear what happened in the bedroom that evening 41 years ago. It is easy to speculate, but that is something that is not permitted here,” he wrote in his 59-page decision given on Tuesday. Tufts ruled that while “there is a likelihood or even a probability that some sexual activity happened in the bedroom, possibly between the accused and [the complainant],” he was “not convinced of that beyond a reasonable doubt.” “For that reason

NDP politician Cheri DiNovo has sent an open letter to Ontario’s attorney general condemning a community-based police action during which the police arrested a convicted pedophile who was breaching a probation order to stay away from children. A self-identified “queer woman,” DiNovo added her voice to a number of protests of Project Marie, a six-week sting operation at a west-end Toronto park that   police report resulted in 89 charges, including 71 charges of indecent exposure and engaging in sexual activity and one criminal charge, against 76 men and two women. Last year , I wrote a column  detailing the secular progressive strategy to push Christians out of the public square: Two of Canada ’s three major political parties have demanded that all of their members support abortion on demand. Law societies across Canada are stating that they will refuse to recognize lawyers coming from Christian universities, since such lawyers must obviously be homophobic. Doctors are being told that they must refer for abortion and assisted suicide.
