Robin Roberts 'Comes Out'; Why Now?

Image
Another beloved television celebrity has "come out" and said to the world, "I am gay." This time its ABC's Good Morning America host, Robin Roberts . CNN says that Roberts has always been "open about her health battles, but she has not previously spoken publicly about her sexuality." [1] The timing of Robert's announcement begs the question: Why now? On May 8, 2012, North Carolina approved a marriage protection amendment to its constitution, defining marriage as one man and one woman. The amendment was approved by the electorate 61% to 39%. It was an overwhelming defeat for so-called gay rights. After such a profound victory, one would have expected the story to have dominated the national news the next day. It didn't. In fact, it was given less than honorable mention in the media scheme. Instead, the huge story on May 9th was President Obama's avowed support for same-sex marriage. Who did the interview of the President on the su

The Bible slavery and homosexual argument

Image
In the aftermath of President Obama’s announcement that he supports redefining marriage to include same-sex couples, many news outlets featured stories that compared the desire of gay couples for marriage to the plight of the American slaves . In fact, it became a common theme that black churches who opposed gay marriage were guilty of cultural and biblical hypocrisy. Many of these articles even expressly stated that the use of the Bible to limit marriage to heterosexual unions is tantamount to supporting the kidnapping, sale, and perpetual ownership of Africans as slaves. After all, some slave owners used the Bible to defend the institution of slavery, and some Americans are using the Bible to define marriage, so the similarities should be obvious. Here is an excerpt from one example, titled  “Is the black church guilty of spiritual hypocrisy in same-sex marriage debate?”  from CNN ’s religion blog: Why would the black church cite scripture to exclude gays when a simila

Rick Warren won’t change on gay ‘marriage,’ because ‘I fear God’s disapproval’ not CNN’s

NEW YORK, December 20, 2013 ( LifeSiteNews.com ) - Evangelical pastor Rick Warren told CNN 's Piers Morgan that he won't change his position against same-sex "marriage," because "I fear the disapproval of God more than I fear your disapproval or the disapproval of society." Warren appeared on CNN's Piers Morgan Live on December 6. After a conversation about Warren's admiration of Pope Francis, Morgan asked the megachurch pastor if his views on same-sex "marriage" had changed since the two had discussed the issue on the program two years ago. "Have you moved at all now? Are you recognizing that there is this seemingly unstoppable movement?" Morgan asked. "Well, I don't get to change what God says is right and what God says is wrong," Warren responded. "And I think God is real clear that all sex outside of marriage is wrong." "But the issue here is the issue of respect," Warren continu

Rick Warren on Homosexual Marriage: I fear God more than your disapproval

Image
Pastor Rick Warren spoke a line to CNN's Piers Morgan that has resonated with people who, like him, have tried repeatedly to explain why they won't change their stance to support same-sex marriage. "I fear the disapproval of God more than I fear your disapproval or the disapproval of society," Warren, of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest , Calif., told the host of "Piers Morgan Live." Warren appeared on the show amid a media blitz for his new book "The Daniel Plan" about getting healthy for the glory of God, but his stand for biblical marriage continues to draw attention. A discussion of Warren's admiration of Pope Francis turned to same-sex marriage when Morgan asked whether Warren's views had evolved during the two years since the two discussed the issue on air. "Have you moved at all now? Are you recognizing that there is this seemingly unstoppable movement?" Morgan asked Warren during the show that aired Dec

Community leader criticizes ‘deceptive’ survey being used to push gay ‘marriage’ in Mexico

Image
As the Mexican senate debates the creation of homosexual “marriage,” the country’s media are trumpeting a survey that claims to show shows that the majority Mexicans are in favor of legalizing such unions.  However, Juan Dabdoub, president of Mexico ’s  Confamilia  (Mexican Family Council), told LifeSiteNews.com that the statistics are “an elegant way of telling lies.”  The survey “omits any reference to the structure of the sample,” he told us. “Therefore, it’s not valid to draw conclusions from this study, and doing so demonstrates a lack of ethic and knowledge by those who conducted it and published it.”  The survey  conducted in July by the polling agency  Parametría , asked Mexicans if they were in favor of the legalization of “marriage” between two people of the same sex. Fifty-two percent said they were in favor.  However, 51% simultaneously thought the union of a man and a woman should be the only one “recognized legally, granting importance to the traditional

Would Martin Luther King Jr. have fought for same-sex marriage rights?

Deutsch: 1964: Martin Luther King Português: Martin Luther King (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) The ongoing debate was recently sparked by Michael Long , author of the upcoming book Keeping It Straight? Martin Luther King, Jr. , Homosexuality , and Gay Rights , who feels the civil rights leader would have sided with those advocating for gay marriage. However, most do not believe King would have petitioned for homosexual marriage. The Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson , founder and president of The Brotherhood Organization of A New Destiny, told The Christian Post that in studying King’s speeches, he could not conceive the civil rights leader heading a gay rights movement. “King was a man sent by God to do His will and there is no way that you can have that type of relationship with God and accept wrong as right," Peterson told CP. "In the scriptures it says that homosexuality is an abomination against God.” Although the Rev. Martin Luther King

Chris Christie signs ban on reparative therapy; Liberty Counsel promises to sue

TRENTON , NJ , August 19, 2013 ( LifeSiteNew s.com ) – Chris Christie signed a controversial bill that bans parents from seeking therapy to help their underage children reduce unwanted same-sex attraction today. In his signing statement (reproduced below), he said he supported the “government limiting parental choice on the care and treatment of their own children” only “reluctantly.” However, he felt that “exposing children to these health risks without clear evidence of benefits that outweigh these serious risks is not appropriate.” Christie also signed a bill allowing children greater access to edible medicinal marijuana. Critics say medicinal marijuana has not been adequately tested. In a press release that accompanied the statement, Christie said, “I’ve always believed that people are born with the predisposition to be homosexual,” quoting a statement he made on CNN . “My religion says [homosexuality is] a sin. But for me, I don’t” agree. New Jersey is the se

Congresswoman files bill to allow gay ‘spouses’ to receive Social Security benefits

Many supporters of “ marriage equality ” thought homosexual activists sought to redefine the age-old institution in order to receive the same recognition and approbation as heterosexual couples. But many  homosexual “marriage' advocates wanted federal benefits . Now a Democratic Congresswoman has introduced a bill to open the federal spigot to same-sex couples. Rep. Linda Sanchez , D-CA Rep. Linda Sanchez, D-CA, says her " Social Security Equality Act of 2013" would confer spousal, survivor, and death benefits to couples who live in a state that recognizes same-sex "marriages" or civil unions. If enacted, its terms would apply to 18 states and the nation's capital. "Same-sex couples pay into Social Security over the course of their working lives just like other Americans," she said. Although the federal benefits angle of the “equality” struggle remained obscured from the general public, LGBT political organizations made the la
