Are the Boy Scouts of America completely blind to the sin of Homosexuality?

History of the Boy Scouts of America (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) You may have heard that the Boy Scouts of America are facing intense pressure to change their policies in order to let homosexually-identified adults and boys serve in leadership positions and participate as members. In fact, the pressure is so intense that one state is considering legislation that would strip them of their tax-exempt status if they don't cave in when the national organization meets on May 23 to make this momentous decision. My colleague Stuart Shepard discusses this in detail with John Stemberger, president of the Florida Family Policy Council , on the most recent CitizenLink Report . Although there have been people in the Scouts with same-sex attractions , until this point it's something they were asked to keep private. But that kind of discretion isn't enough for gay activists and their allies. In essence, they are using a group that does tremendous work with boys and youn

Boy Scouts asking for input on gay membership

Eagle Scout Badge, Type 6 (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) IRVING, TX , March 11, 2013, ( LifeSiteNews.com ) – The Boy Scouts of America are asking for citizens across the country to express their opinion about the BSA's policy barring open homosexuals from joining the group as members or scoutmasters. In a tiny link at the top of their website, the Scouts announced their review of the policy. A second link simply asks readers, “ Share your feedback .” Last July, the 100-year-old outdoor group announced it would  maintain its moral standards for members and leaders . However, in January the national scouting organization  bowed to pressure to reconsider  the policy. A decision was expected last month. However, roughly 20 percent of the youth members' councils asked for  the decision to be delayed until May , when 1,400 members can vote at their upcoming meeting in Grapevine, Texas . The BSA issued a statement at the time saying “due to the complexity of this issue, th

Homosexuals will prey on the Boy Scouts of America

History of the Boy Scouts of America (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) February 4, 2013 (Breakpoint.org) - Last week, the Boy Scouts of America announced that they may soon drop their national policy that prohibits openly homosexual Scouts and Scout leaders from participating. Instead, it would allow local units to make the decision. So in other words, Scout units based in Bible-believing churches may continue to uphold their moral and religious convictions on human sexuality. And homosexual youths and adults will no doubt find units based in public schools or more liberal churches that would welcome them. So what does all this mean? First, this change is about survival for the Scouts, not new convictions. For years, the organization has been the target of gay activists and atheist groups . And those characters know exactly how to hit organizations that oppose them where it hurts most: in the pocketbook and in court. Already, many major corporations and charities have been pressured

Homosexuals target the Boy Scouts of America

History of the Boy Scouts of America (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) For over a century, the Boy Scouts of America have stood for honor and traditional Judeo-Christian values , and taught millions of young people leadership and life skills by faithfully applying those values in their own lives. It's not surprising that advocates of alternative "values," such as gay and lesbian activists, would challenge these traditional family values. Indeed, homosexual activists argued that the Boy Scouts should change their values and allow openly homosexual men to serve as scoutmasters with the responsibility of mentoring impressionable youth. But thirteen years ago, in  Boy Scouts of America v. Dale , the Supreme Court of the United states upheld the right of the Boy Scouts to make their own decisions about membership, despite a New Jersey law that would have required them to accept an openly homosexual Scoutmaster . The Scouts won that fight, but only because they were ab

Memo to parents and churches: Please urge the Boy Scouts not to capitulate on homosexuality

History of the Boy Scouts of America (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) CHICAGO, January 31, 2013, ( AFTAH ) – Peter LaBarbera , president of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality ( AFTAH.org ), issued the following analysis of the  Boy Scouts of America’s (BSA)   reported capitulation  to pro-homosexual activists—potentially rescinding its national policy on homosexuality and allowing local councils to set their own policies on “sexual orientation”: 1) This decision is not yet final – parents, sponsoring churches and concerned citizens should lobby the Scouts  now  prior to their Board Meeting next week. TAKE ACTION:  Urge the BSA  not  to sacrifice the safety and moral well-being of boys to the demands of “gay” activists and a few corporate bigwigs threatening to withhold grants. Limping between two opinions: The moral evacuation of the Boy Scouts of America

History of the Boy Scouts of America (Photo credit: Wikipedia ) NASHVILLE, TN , January 31, 2013, ( AlbertMohler.com ) -  And Elijah came near to all the people and said, “How long will you go on limping between two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him .” --  1 Kings 18:21 . The announcement this week that the Boy Scouts of America may soon rescind its national policy prohibiting the participation of openly homosexual members and leaders fell like a thunderclap. The B.S.A. national board is expected to approve the change early next week, just six months after that same board had announced that no change would be made, citing the unanimous recommendation of a special study committee.  Back then, the B.S.A. CEO said that the “vast majority” of Boy Scout parents supported the policy. That was then, but this is now. Just six months later, the B.S.A. board is prepared to capitulate to massive pressure from gay rights activists

Boy Scouts of America reconsidering ban on open homosexuality

Just six months after reaffirming their commitment to keeping open homosexuals out of the Boy Scouts , the national leaders of the organization have signaled that they may be about to change their minds. Last July, after a confidential, two-year review, an 11-member special committee made up of Scout executives and volunteers came to the unanimous conclusion that a national ban on openly gay scouts and leaders was “absolutely the best policy.” The Boy Scouts won a 5-4 U.S. Supreme Court ruling recognizing their right to ban homosexuals in 2000. But a spokesman for the Scouts said Monday they are considering dropping the national ban in favor of a policy allowing local scouting groups to determine their own policies.  The change will be discussed next week by the organization's national board, the spokesman, Deron Smith, said. The Scouts did not provide a reason for the possible change, but in recent months, gay activists have turned up the pressure on the group.  Zac
