WASHINGTON, D.C. , May 30, 2014 ( LifeSIteNews.com ) – The number of Americans who believe homosexuality is an inborn trait is on the decline, according to a new  Gallup poll . In 2013, 47 percent of Americans told the polling company they believed that homosexuals were “born gay .” In 2014, that number dropped to 42 percent. Meanwhile, 37 percent of Americans surveyed reported believing homosexuality is the result of “upbringing and environment,” up from 33 percent in 2013. “Though being gay as the result of genetics or other factors before birth has become a considerably more mainstream belief and is now mentioned by a plurality of Americans, it is still one held by slightly less than half of the U.S. population,” the pollsters explained in a statement. “This disagreement seems likely to continue as long as the scientific community remains agnostic about the question.” Gallup noted that the American Psychological Association has refused to take a position on the origi

The existing law makes it a crime to promote “non-traditional” homosexual relations to children and young people under 18. Changes to the law, submitted in the Duma on Friday, propose to remove the term “non-traditional” sexual activity, and change the wording to a prohibition on propagandizing of any sexual relations among under-aged children and of the idea of a “priority of sexual relations” on children’s minds, Itar-Tass reported Sunday. The whole media establishment is up in arms about Russia ’s new law that  prohibits the promotion of homosexuality, and other deviant sexual behaviors among minors . Reuters, AP,   New York Times , BBC , have all complained about the law as a form of discrimination against gays, but this appears to be more hyperbole than anything else. If you believed the  NY Times  you’d think the Russians had decided to send every homosexual in Russia to the Gulags . Yet this term is ambiguous and there is no clear agreement as to what discrimination on the basis of gender identity means. And if so what kind of help and what expectations should they realistically have? BBC Religion and Ethics recently published an article on this extremely controversial subject titled ‘ Ex-gay survivor’s tales of exorcism in middle England ’. I was asked to submit a quote for it yesterday but was unable to obtain any information about what angle the author would be writing it from. So I sent in four carefully drafted sentences of which they used only the one that most closely fitted with their agenda. The article relates the story of Peterson Toscano , who ‘after $30,000 for controversial conversion therapy, three attempts at exorcism and one failed marriage, finally resolved the conflict between his faith and sexuality - he was gay’. At the end there are some comments from Peter Ould and myself (see Peter’s take  here ). Toscano’s case highlights th
